Day 1: Moshi to Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
- Arrive at Londorossi Gate (2,100m / 6,890ft) at approximately 11:00 AM.
Register the climb with park authorities while porters and guides make final preparations.
Drive to the trailhead and enjoy a picnic lunch.
Begin the trek through the rainforest.
Observe unique flora and birdlife along the trail.
Arrive at Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp (2,750m / 9,023ft) in the late afternoon.
Elevation Gain: 650 meters / 2,133 feet.
Hiking Time: 4 to 5 hours.
Rest and overnight at Mti Mkubwa Camp.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp
- Hike from Mti Mkubwa through the forest and enter the moorland zone.
Enjoy views of Kilimanjaro’s diverse wildflowers.
Ascend gradually and catch the first glimpse of Kibo Peak.
Climb onto the Shira Plateau, formed by ancient lava flows.
Reach Shira 1 Camp (3,480m / 11,420ft) and relax for the day.
Elevation Gain: 730 meters / 2,397 feet.
Hiking Time: 6 to 8 hours.
Dine and overnight at Shira 1 Camp.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Moir Hut
- Follow the trail across the plateau toward Fisher Camp (4,000m).
Hike through varied terrain and continue to Moir Hut (4,155m / 13,632ft).
Ascend to higher altitude for acclimatization and sleep at lower elevation.
Enter the alpine desert zone.
Elevation Gain: 295 meters / 1,032 feet.
Hiking Time: 5 to 7 hours.
Dine and overnight at Moir Hut.

Day 4: Moir Hut to Buffalo Camp
- Begin the day by hiking out of the Moir Valley.
Ascend the Lent Hills for acclimatization and descend back to the main trail.
Cross a rocky terrain while heading east.
Reach Buffalo Camp (4,145m / 13,600ft) by late afternoon.
Elevation Loss: 10 meters / 32 feet.
Hiking Time: 4 to 7 hours.
Rest, dine, and overnight at Buffalo Camp.

Day 5: Buffalo Camp to Third Cave Camp
- Climb up Buffalo Ridge and descend across several gullies.
Trek through barren landscapes toward Third Cave Camp (3,936m / 12,913ft).
Observe dramatic changes in terrain and vegetation.
Elevation Loss: 209 meters / 687 feet.
Hiking Time: 5 to 7 hours.
Rest and overnight at Third Cave Camp.

Day 6: Third Cave Camp to School Hut
- Begin by retracing the previous day’s trail to a dry riverbed.
Head west and steadily ascend toward Kibo.
Reach School Hut (4,717m / 15,476ft) by early afternoon.
Explore the Saddle area near Mawenzi.
Prepare gear and rest ahead of the midnight summit push.
Elevation Gain: 781 meters / 2,563 feet.
Hiking Time: 4 to 5 hours.
Dine and overnight at School Hut.

Day 7: School Hut to Uhuru Peak to Crater Camp
- Begin the summit attempt at midnight.
Ascend slowly up the steep slope toward Gilman’s Point.
Snack frequently to maintain energy levels despite reduced appetite.
Reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m / 19,340ft), the highest point in Africa.
Descend to Crater Camp (5,730m / 18,799ft) after the summit.
Have lunch and enjoy a short hike to the Ash Pit Cone.
Return to Crater Camp for dinner and overnight.
Elevation Gain: 1,178 meters / 3,864 feet.

Day 8: Crater Camp to Millennium Camp
- Begin a steady descent from Crater Camp.
Cross alpine desert and moorland zones.
Arrive at Millennium Camp (3,827m / 12,566ft) for a hot lunch.
Rest, enjoy dinner, and overnight at Millennium Camp.
Elevation Loss: 1,903 meters / 6,233 feet.
Hiking Time: 5 to 6 hours.

Day 9: Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi / Arusha
- Resume descent through Kilimanjaro’s cloud forest.
Take extra caution as the trail may be slippery.
Arrive at Mweka Gate and enjoy a picnic lunch.
Collect summit certificates and purchase souvenirs.
Board Foot On Kili Tanzania vehicles for transfer to Moshi or Arusha.
