Baku to Shamakhi and Sheki Cultural Heritage Tour
- 08:30 - Get picked up from your address or meeting point in Baku. Meet your private guide and start the drive to Shamakhi.
10:30 - 11:00 - Visit Juma Mosque in Shamakhi. It is the oldest mosque in Azerbaijan, built in 744 CE. The mosque has three halls, each with its own dome, mihrab, and entrance. Your guide will explain the mosque's history and design. Spend about 30 minutes here.
11:00 - 14:00 - Drive to Sheki. The journey takes about 3 hours.
14:00 - 15:00 - Visit the Sheki Khan Palace. It was built between 1762 and 1765. The two-story palace has detailed frescoes and stained glass windows made without nails. Your guide will explain the history and architecture. Spend about 60 minutes here.
15:00 - 15:20 - Walk or drive to the Medieval Sheki Caravanserai. It is 2 minutes by car or 5 minutes on foot. Visit the Upper Caravanserai, built in the 18th century. It has around 300 rooms and served Silk Road traders. Spend about 20 minutes here with your guide.
15:20 - 15:35 - Drive to Kish Albanian Church. The ride takes about 15 minutes.
15:35 - 16:05 - Explore Kish Albanian Church, also called the Church of Saint Elishe. It was founded in the 1st century AD. The current building dates to the 12th century. Archaeological remains under the altar date back to 3000 BC. Your guide will explain its religious and historical value. Spend about 30 minutes here.
16:05 - 21:05 - Drive back to Baku.
