Itinerary

1. Day 01: Gateway to the Sierra & the Sea

   • Begin your Colombian journey in Santa Marta, a vibrant coastal city between the Caribbean Sea and the towering Sierra Nevada mountains—the world’s highest coastal range. This region, rich in Indigenous heritage, is the launchpad for adventures to Tayrona National Park and the legendary Lost City. 
   • Discover Santa Marta's colonial past on a half-day city tour featuring historic landmarks like the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, Colombia’s oldest cathedral, and the lively Taganga fishing village with panoramic coast views.

   Important Note: The tour begins with pick-up at Santa Marta Airport. Transfers from any other airport to Santa Marta are not included and must be arranged separately.

   Meals: None.

2. Day 02: Into the Sierra Nevada Wilderness

   • Our Lost City adventure begins with a 3-hour 4×4 drive from Santa Marta to the village of Mamey. 
   • After a local lunch and orientation, we embark on a scenic hike through the lush Sierra Nevada foothills to Camp Adán (approx. 450 m.a.s.l.). The trail offers vibrant landscapes and the chance to cool off in refreshing natural pools upon arrival.

   Hiking time: 3–4 hours | Distance: 9 km | Elevation gain/loss: ▲600 m / ▼300 m.

   Overnight: Hammocks or bunk beds at Camp Adán.

   Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

3. Day 03: Deeper into the Jungle and Indigenous Culture

   • After breakfast, we continue trekking toward Camp 2 (approx. 470 m.a.s.l.) for a riverside lunch and a refreshing dip in the Río Buritaca. 
   • The journey then leads us uphill past an indigenous village, offering a unique opportunity to learn about local traditions and life in the Sierra Nevada. 
   • We end the day at Camp 3 (approx. 900 m.a.s.l.), just an hour away from the Lost City.

   Hiking time: 7–8 hours | Distance: 14 km | Elevation gain/loss: ▲800 m / ▼400 m.

   Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

4. Day 04: Reaching the Legendary Lost City

   • Today, we climb over 1,200 ancient stone steps to reach the heart of Ciudad Perdida, where circular terraces built by the Tayrona over a millennium ago emerge from the jungle. 
   • We explore the site and learn about its cultural and historical significance while taking in the breathtaking scenery. Around midday, we begin the descent back to Camp 3 for lunch and another overnight stay.

   Hiking time: 3–4 hours | Distance: 14 km | Elevation gain/loss: ▲400 m / ▼400 m.

   Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

5. Day 05: Return to Camp Adán and Natural Pools

   • We begin our return journey by hiking through the lush Sierra Nevada to reach Camp Adán. The trail leads us down through changing landscapes, offering one last deep immersion in nature. 
   • Upon arrival, we can unwind and enjoy a refreshing dip in the nearby natural pools—an ideal way to relax after a full day of trekking.

   Hiking time: 7–8 hours | Distance: 14 km | Elevation gain/loss: ▲400 m / ▼800 m.

   Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

6. Day 06: Return to El Mamey and Back to Santa Marta

   • After breakfast, we set out on our final hike through the lush jungle, heading from Camp Adán to El Mamey. 
   • Once there, we enjoy a well-earned lunch before taking a 4×4 vehicle back to Santa Marta in the early afternoon.

   Duration/Distance/Elevation: 3h / 9 km / ▲300 m ▼600 m.
