Itinerary
-
Day 01: Touchdown in Bogotá – First Taste of Colombia!
- Welcome to Bogotá, Colombia’s vibrant capital! Perched high in the Andes, this city blends rich history, culture, and modern charm.
- Wander through La Candelaria’s colonial streets, visit world-class museums, and take in breathtaking views from Monserrate.
- Savour local flavours like ajiaco and explore lively districts like Chapinero and Usaquén. Whether you're into history, food, or adventure, Bogotá promises an unforgettable experience!
-
Day 02: Weaving Peace – Stories & Flavors of Reconciliation
- Today, we visit the Egipto neighbourhood near Bogotá’s old town, transformed by the "Breaking Borders"initiative — a project led by former gang members offering guided tours and building a brighter future through tourism.
- We start at Chorro de Quevedo with a brief intro and snack, then head to the eastern hills, stopping at the Nuestra Señora de Egipto church and "El Cuadrado," now covered in graffiti that tells the story of the neighbourhood’s transformation.
- After a traditional lunch, we visit "Buena Semilla," a workshop run by former offenders, where we can try local weaving techniques.
-
Day 03: Bogotá Uncovered – Street Art & Bites Adventure
- We’ll explore Bogotá’s vibrant street food scene and taste 10 local snacks and drinks that showcase Colombia’s rich heritage.
- As we visit five must-see spots in the historic centre, we’ll meet and chat with local vendors, enjoy a mix of sweet, savoury, hot, and cold flavours, and top it off with a shot of aguardiente. The generous menu equals a full meal, so a light pre-meal is recommended.
The tour runs Monday through Saturday, starting between 10:00 and 12:00, and excludes transportation and unspecified services. It’s closed on Sundays and holidays.
-
Day 04: Bean-to-Bar Chocolate – A Community’s Legacy
- Today, we visit Moravia, a once-poor neighbourhood in Medellín that has transformed from an open landfill into a thriving community.
- With a local guide, we’ll explore "Cerro de Moravia" and learn about its history.
- Next, we’ll engage with the "Platos sin Fronteras" initiative, where local women combine traditional recipes with healthy, affordable ingredients. Together, we’ll prepare a nutritious meal and hear their personal stories.
- We’ll end by enjoying the lunch we’ve cooked together. Buen provecho!
-
Day 05: Cacao Sacred Rituals – From Ancestral Roots to Modern Bites
- Coffee may be Colombia’s iconic drink, but cacao has a deeper history, once used as currency by indigenous tribes.
- On our day trip to San Francisco in Antioquia’s highlands, we’ll visit a local chocolate project. Surrounded by lush landscapes, we’ll learn about cacao farming and handmade chocolate, focusing on sustainable practices and women’s empowerment.
-
Day 05: Hello Coffee Country! Mountains, Beans & Family
- Experience the rich coffee culture of Colombia as you journey through the entire process, from seed to cup.
- Learn about traditional cultivation methods, processing, and preparation in the Coffee Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 3-hour tour covers 2 kilometres and includes tasting two coffee varieties and a refreshing drink. You’ll also don typical peasant attire, including a poncho, hat, and basket.
Tours run daily at 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. It’s recommended to wear hiking shoes for the journey.
-
Day 07: Sancocho Stories – Cooking Peace in the Andes
- Join our exclusive Sancocho food tour for a hands-on culinary experience.
