Itinerary

1. Day 1 – Arrival and Exploration

   • Arrive at Rubondo Island using your selected transport option.

   • Check in to your lodge or tented accommodation.

   • Enjoy lunch while taking in views of Lake Victoria.

   • Join a guided nature walk through the dense forest in search of monkeys, bushbucks, and vibrant birdlife.

   • Participate in a scenic boat safari in the late afternoon to spot hippos, crocodiles, and possibly the rare sitatunga antelope.

   • Dine outdoors under the stars and listen to the natural sounds of the island.

2. Day 2 – Chimpanzee Trekking and Wildlife Encounters

   • Begin early with a guided chimpanzee trekking expedition through the forest.

   • Learn about Rubondo's unique chimpanzee habituation program while observing their natural behavior.

   • After lunch, head out on a game drive to seek elephants, giraffes, colobus monkeys, and various antelope species.

   • Alternatively, take a guided forest walk to explore flora, insects, and lesser-known wildlife.

   • Choose an optional fishing experience on Lake Victoria, where catch-and-release for Nile perch is often encouraged.

   • Unwind at your lodge in the evening and reflect on the day's encounters.

3. Day 3 – Birdwatching and Departure

   • Join a morning birdwatching walk to discover some of the island’s 300 bird species.

   • Hike to a scenic viewpoint for sweeping views of the lake and surrounding islands.

   • Visit the park's interpretive center to gain insights into local ecology and conservation efforts.

   • Enjoy a final meal on the island before departing by air or boat back to Mwanza.
