The itinerary

Day 01

Flight to Mafia Island and Lodge Transfer

Depart by flight from Zanzibar at 14:00 or 16:00, or from Dar es Salaam to Mafia Island in the evening.
Arrive on Mafia Island and meet the lodge driver, who will transfer you to your accommodation.
Relax at your lodge or choose from the optional activities available on this unique island.
Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge or hotel.

Day 02

Whale Shark Excursion and Mafia Island City Tour

After breakfast, embark on the whale shark excursion. Whale sharks are present on Mafia Island year-round, with peak seasons for swimming with them from November to February.
Check the tides and available activities with the lodge to plan the day.
If you are lucky, witness a turtle nest hatching during the excursion.
In the evening, take the opportunity for a city tour of Mafia Island and learn about the local people and the history of the island.
Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge or hotel.

Day 03

Whale Shark Excursion and Leisure on Mafia Island

After breakfast, enjoy the whale shark excursion again.
Check the tides and the activities available at the lodge. You may have the opportunity to swim with whale sharks or witness a turtle nest hatching.
Spend the rest of the day at leisure, exploring the island or relaxing.
In the evening, opt for a city tour to learn more about the local culture and history.
Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge or hotel.

Day 04

Chole Island Snorkelling and Departure

After breakfast, enjoy 5 hours of snorkelling at Chole Island. Spend your final day on Mafia Island discovering the vibrant marine life.
After snorkelling, your driver will transfer you across the island to the airstrip.
Catch your return flight to Dar es Salaam at 17:35 - 18:10 or, if departing from Zanzibar, take the 17:00 flight.
