Day 01

Arrival, Transfer, and Tour Briefing

Magamba Forest Trek and Kiguluhakwewa Peak

  • After breakfast, pick up from the hotel and begin the trek.
  • Walk through the Kwembago local villages uphill to the Magamba rain forest.
  • Spot black and white colobus monkeys, vervet and blue monkeys, and other wildlife.
  • Trek to an old German trench and learn about its historical background.
  • Continue trekking to Kiguluhakwewa Peak for panoramic views of Lushoto town and the surrounding villages.
  • Enjoy a picnic lunch at the peak or in Magamba village.

Overnight at Bush Baby Homestay and Campsite in Lukozi.

Day 03

Village Trek and Shambaa Cultural Discovery

  • After breakfast, begin trekking through the villages of Mgwashi.

  • Discover traditional irrigation practices used by the Shambaa people.
  • Explore medicinal and spiritual herbs along the route.

Spend the night in basic but neat accommodation.

Day 04

Mtae Trek and Pottery Workshop

  • After breakfast, begin trekking to the pottery village for a workshop experience.

  • Participate in the pottery workshop and learn to make pots using clay soil.
  • Continue trekking through the Usambara Mountains while enjoying scenic views of the plain.
  • Have lunch at Magamba View Cottages Lodge.

Return to Lushoto and Departure

  • Early morning drive to Lushoto (63 km).
