12-Hour Saadani National Park Itinerary
- 06:00 – Depart from accommodation near the park (or from Dar es Salaam at 4:00 AM if doing a day trip).
08:00 – Arrive at the Saadani Gate. Meet your guide, check in, and get a quick orientation.
08:15 – Begin morning game drive in the inland savannah and wooded areas. Spot giraffes, warthogs, buffalo, elephants, and possibly predators like lions or leopards.
11:00 – Drive towards the Wami River for a boat safari. Keep an eye out for hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds. If lucky, elephants may be drinking at the riverbanks.
12:30 – Enjoy a packed picnic lunch at a shaded rest stop or riverside lodge (if pre-booked). Take in the wild surroundings.
13:30 – Head toward the coastal section of the park. Enjoy views of the Indian Ocean and look for wildlife near the beach.
14:00 – Short walk along the beach with your guide. Look for turtle tracks (seasonal), enjoy the breeze, and spot coastal birds or grazing animals near the dunes.
15:00 – Visit the Saadani fishing village (optional, if time allows), for a glimpse into local Swahili coastal life.
15:30 – Begin return journey from the park.
18:00 – Arrive back at your starting point or lodge.
