12-Hour Mkomazi National Park Itinerary
- 05:00 AM – Depart Arusha
Begin your journey with an early pick-up from your hotel in Arusha. Drive southeast toward Mkomazi National Park, passing through Same town and the scenic Usambara foothills. - 08:30 AM – Stop for Breakfast (En Route)
Pause at a scenic roadside location to enjoy a packed breakfast and stretch before continuing your journey. - 11:00 AM – Arrive at Mkomazi National Park
Check in at the park gate and receive a short briefing from your guide. Prepare for the day’s wildlife viewing activities. - 11:15 AM – Begin Morning Game Drive
Explore Mkomazi’s open savannahs and woodland landscapes. Observe wildlife including elephants, giraffes, zebras, elands, oryx, and possibly rare wild dogs and black rhinos. - 01:00 PM – Break for Picnic Lunch
Stop at one of the designated picnic areas within the park and enjoy lunch with views of the Pare Mountains. - 02:00 PM – Visit the Rhino Sanctuary
Enter the secure rhino sanctuary, with prior permission, to observe endangered black rhinos and learn about the park’s conservation efforts. - 03:30 PM – Conduct Afternoon Game Drive and Begin Exit
Drive through the park while exiting, with a focus on birdwatching. Mkomazi is known for its rich birdlife with over 450 species. - 04:00 PM – Begin Return Journey to Arusha
Relax during the return drive. If weather allows, view Mount Kilimanjaro or the expansive Maasai plains along the route. - 09:00 PM – Arrive in Arusha and Drop-off
