Itinerary

1. Day 1: Scenic Drive and Initial Birding

   Morning: 7:00 am

   • Depart from Nairobi for Lake Nakuru National Park, enjoying the scenic drive through the Great Rift Valley. Stop at the viewpoint for photography and to admire the breathtaking landscapes.

   Late Morning: 10:00 am

   • Arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park and check in with the hotel representative to collect your picnic lunch, which you will enjoy during the day. After entering the park, embark on your first game drive.

   • Begin birdwatching, with the first species likely to be the colorful Superb Starlings. Stay alert and keep an eye on tree branches to spot other species.

   Afternoon: 1:00 pm

   • Enjoy your picnic lunch in the park, surrounded by nature, while continuing your birding and wildlife exploration. Lake Nakuru is home to over 450 bird species, so by this time, you'll have already spotted a wide variety.

   • Record your sightings in a notebook and capture the memories with your camera.

   Evening: 6:00 pm

   • Exit the park and head to Eagle Palace Hotel for your overnight stay in the city center. Enjoy a relaxing dinner and reflect on the day’s birding experiences.

2. Day 2: Birdwatching and Wildlife Exploration

   Morning: 6:00 am

   • Start your day with breakfast before heading back to Lake Nakuru National Park for another exciting morning game drive.

   • On the way to the park, keep an eye out for common birds such as Speckled Pigeons, Pied Crows, House Sparrows, and Black Kites perched on buildings. Once inside the park, focus on the lake’s edges and trees for bird species like Greater and Lesser Flamingos, Pelicans, Storks, Jacanas, Fish Eagles, and more.

   Late Morning: 10:00 am

   • Continue birdwatching in diverse habitats like the Acacia Forest and wooded hills. This is an excellent time to spot species like Cordon Blues, Hoopoes, Woodpeckers, Bulbuls, and various species of doves and weavers.

   Afternoon: 1:00 pm

   • Take a break and enjoy your picnic lunch in the park. Afterward, continue with your game drive, focusing on animal tracking. Follow Buffalos and Zebras to spot birds like Oxpeckers and Cattle Egrets, which often follow these animals in search of insects and parasites.

   Evening: 6:00 pm

   • Exit the park and return to your hotel for dinner and accommodation. Reflect on the day’s bird sightings and wildlife encounters.

3. Day 3: Final Birding and Departure

   Morning: 6:00 am

   • Enjoy an early breakfast, check out of the hotel, and head to Lake Nakuru for your final birding session. Pack your picnic lunch and focus on spotting any species you may have missed in the previous days.

   • If there's a particular bird you’ve been hoping to spot, use this time to revisit popular birding spots.

   Late Morning: 10:00 am

   • Explore the lake shores and viewpoints, which offer great vantage points for spotting birds. Consider taking another game drive to cover more ground and increase your chances of spotting different species.

   Afternoon: 1:00 pm

   • As the day heats up, birds may move to the lake to quench their thirst or seek shelter in the trees and bushes. Take advantage of this by alternating between birding at the lakeshore and among the trees to spot various species.

   Afternoon: 3:00 pm

   • Begin your journey back to Nairobi, soaking in the last views of the stunning landscapes surrounding Lake Nakuru.

   Evening: 6:00 pm

   • Arrive in Nairobi, marking the conclusion of your 3-day birdwatching adventure. Reflect on the incredible bird sightings, wildlife encounters, and scenic beauty you experienced during your trip.
