The itinerary

Day 01

Kissamos Villages, Sacred Sites, and Local Flavours

Starting from our pre-arranged meeting point, we will drive through the area of Maleme, among PDO orange groves and olive groves, and visit the early-Christian Rotunda Church of Archangel Michael, one of the two rotunda churches in Greece. This 1,400-year-old monument has recently been restored and opened to the public.
Nearby, we will see the Ancient Olive Tree of Vouves, which is more than 3,000 years old. At the local family business 'Idiosmos', we will be welcomed for a demonstration of how oil and honey products are traditionally made, followed by a tasting experience.
We will then admire the strange Cretan landscape of Komolithee and drive through the Topolia Gorge to visit the cave of Agia Sofia (Holy Wisdom Cave). If desired, we will have lunch at a traditional restaurant in the area, serving locally produced meat and vegetables.
