Samarkand to Iskanderkul Lake and Waterfall

Morning: Departure from Samarkand and border crossing

  • 07:00 AM: Pick-up from your hotel in Samarkand. Meet your driver for a comfortable ride to the Uzbekistan-Tajikistan border.
  • 09:00 AM: Arrive at the Uzbekistan-Tajikistan border at Jartepa Border Post. You will need to cross the border on foot, passing through several passport controls. Meet your Tajik guide on the other side.
  • 09:30 AM: Begin your scenic drive towards Iskanderkul Lake through the picturesque Zarafshan Valley. Enjoy breathtaking mountain views and take photo stops along the way.

Midday: Explore Iskanderkul Lake and surroundings

  • 13:00 PM: Arrive at Iskanderkul Lake at an altitude of 2,195 m. Admire the stunning turquoise waters, take a walk along the lakeshore, and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Learn about the legends of Alexander the Great's horse.
  • 14:00 PM: Visit the Snake River and Iskanderkul Waterfall, known as the "Tajik Niagara." Take a short 20-minute hike to the 38-meter-high waterfall and enjoy the natural beauty and the sound of the roaring water.

Afternoon: Lunch and return journey
