Day 01
Samarkand to Iskanderkul Lake and Waterfall
Morning: Departure from Samarkand and border crossing
- 07:00 AM: Pick-up from your hotel in Samarkand. Meet your driver for a comfortable ride to the Uzbekistan-Tajikistan border.
- 09:00 AM: Arrive at the Uzbekistan-Tajikistan border at Jartepa Border Post. You will need to cross the border on foot, passing through several passport controls. Meet your Tajik guide on the other side.
- 09:30 AM: Begin your scenic drive towards Iskanderkul Lake through the picturesque Zarafshan Valley. Enjoy breathtaking mountain views and take photo stops along the way.
Midday: Explore Iskanderkul Lake and surroundings
- 13:00 PM: Arrive at Iskanderkul Lake at an altitude of 2,195 m. Admire the stunning turquoise waters, take a walk along the lakeshore, and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Learn about the legends of Alexander the Great's horse.
- 14:00 PM: Visit the Snake River and Iskanderkul Waterfall, known as the "Tajik Niagara." Take a short 20-minute hike to the 38-meter-high waterfall and enjoy the natural beauty and the sound of the roaring water.
Afternoon: Lunch and return journey
- 15:00 PM: Enjoy a traditional Tajik lunch at a local guesthouse, featuring authentic dishes such as plov, shashlik, fresh bread, and salads. Experience the warm hospitality of the locals.
- 16:00 PM: Begin your return journey to the Uzbekistan border. Stop at panoramic viewpoints to capture more photos as you drive through the stunning Fann Mountains.
Evening: Return to Samarkand
- 19:00 PM: Arrive at the Tajikistan-Uzbekistan border. Receive assistance with the border crossing and meet your Uzbek driver.
- 19:30 PM: Depart for Samarkand for a smooth ride back to your hotel.
- 21:00 PM: Drop-off at your hotel in Samarkand, marking the end of the unforgettable trip.
