The itinerary

Day 01

Fortress of Ponor Adventure from Oradea

We pick you up from your hotel in Oradea or Băile Felix and head to Glăvoi, the camping area and starting point of our tour.
We descend to the main gate of the cave and admire its immense opening portal.
The Fortress of Ponor has two remarkable attractions: the unmatched grandeur of its caverns and the subterranean river that flows through the cave to its very end.
The scale of the hollow is revealed by the greatness of the portal, about 70 m tall, sculpted like a giant window in a vertical 100 m wall. The route to the entrance splits into several access gates, including two lateral circles, sinkholes 2 and 3. The subterranean river, one of the most abundant in the Romanian karst, adds priceless charm to the cavern through the 14 lakes and numerous waterfalls and streams it creates. Turning left, we reach the second gate, where we have the possibility to descend into the cave, so good flashlights are needed. We then climb up until we reach the balconies, which offer a wonderful panorama over the cave.
Late in the evening, we return to Oradea.
