Day 01

Accra City Highlights and Cultural Heritage

  • Our Accra city tour takes you to the W.E.B. DuBois Center. Dr. DuBois is called the "Father of Pan-Africanism," and this prominent Pan-Africanist chose to live, work, and become a citizen of Ghana.
  • Next, take a walking tour of Accra's largest open-air market. The market overflows with goods, people, scents, and sounds, which means it can be overwhelming to navigate on your own.
  • Continue to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to learn about the history of Ghana's independent leader and first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
  • Next is the Centre for National Culture, simply known as "The Arts Center." It has everything from woven Kente cloth to wooden sculptures, beadwork, and other fashion accessories.
  • Then, go to the Black Star Square, where you will learn about the history of Ghana's independence struggle and see the Independence Arch, Black Star Gate, and the Liberation Day Monuments.
