Day 01

Arrival and Welcome in Accra

  • Welcome your incoming flight at Kotoka International Airport in Accra. Enjoy secure transportation to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle. Take time to refresh and unwind. If time allows, partake in a neighborhood or city orientation of Accra.

Overnight accommodations will be provided at a mid-range hotel in Accra.

Day 02

Guided Tour of Accra

  • Meet your guide at 8:30 AM to commence a guided tour of Accra.
  • The itinerary includes visits to the Kwame Nkrumah Monument, Independence Square, Makola Market, the historic Jamestown area, the W.E.B. Du Bois Center, and the trendy Oxford Street in Osu.

Accommodation will be provided at a mid-range hotel in Accra for the night.

Day 03

Aburi Gardens, Bead Workshop, and Amedzofe

  • Embark on a journey to the Aburi Botanical Gardens and the Aburi craft market, with bicycles available for an additional fee.
  • Make a stop at a bead workshop located near the Volta River to gain insight into this exquisite craft. Relish the ride as you proceed to the picturesque mountain village of Amedzofe.

You will spend the night at an economical guesthouse situated on the hillside in Amedzofe.

Day 04

Mt. Gemi, Tafi Atome, and Ghana's Tallest Waterfall

  • A morning trek through the refreshing mist leads to the peak of Mt. Gemi or to a nearby waterfall.
  • Following this, we will proceed to the monkey sanctuary at Tafi Atome, where visitors can enjoy engaging interactions with the friendly Mona monkeys.
  • Continuing deeper into the Volta Region, we will embark on a 45-minute hike to witness Ghana's tallest waterfall.

Accommodation will be provided for the night in a budget chalet situated along the banks of the Volta River.

Day 05

Leisure Day on the Volta River

  • A leisurely day at the Volta River awaits.
  • Experience a serene morning excursion in a traditional dugout canoe or, for an additional charge, opt for a motorboat ride from the Adomi Bridge to the Akosombo Dam. Explore Atimpoku, enjoy the Riverside waterpark, stroll across the Adomi Bridge, or take a tour of a banana plantation.

Accommodation is available at an affordable chalet situated along the banks of the Volta River.

Day 06

Akaa Falls, Bobiri Forest, and Ejisu

  • Travel along a scenic route to Akaa Falls, featuring 250 concrete steps that descend to the base of the falls.
  • Trek through the Bobiri Forest Reserve and Butterfly Sanctuary, with the optimal visiting period from March to June. In Ejisu, explore one of the remaining traditional Ashanti structures, the Yaw Tano located in Besease.

Stay overnight at a mid-range hotel in Ejisu.

Day 07

Ashanti Craft Villages and Cultural Traditions

  • Explore the traditional craft villages near Kumasi, where you can observe the intricate processes of Kente cloth weaving, Adinkra cloth stamping, and wood carving.
  • Additionally, you will have the opportunity to visit a healing shrine and a cocoa farm. In Ejisu, the Diaspora may partake in a traditional cleansing and naming ceremony for an additional fee.
  • Accommodation will be provided at a mid-range hotel in Ejisu for the night.

Day 08

Slave Trade History and Cape Coast Castle

  • Trace the route of the slave trade to the coast, pausing at a historic slave market and cemetery.
  • Explore the World Heritage site and the former slave dungeon of Cape Coast Castle. Individuals from the Diaspora may participate in a "Door of Return" ceremony at the castle for an additional fee.
  • Enjoy an overnight stay at a three-star beach resort in Elmina.

Day 09

Kakum Canopy Walkway and Elmina

  • Morning visit to the rainforest canopy walkway at Kakum National Park.
  • Visit the nearby crocodile ponds at Hans Cottage. Continue to central Elmina to see the busy fishing lagoon and take the grand walkway to hilltop Ft. San Jago, with special cultural performances.

Overnight at a 3-star beach resort in Elmina.

Day 10

Abandze Beach and Kokrobite

  • Enjoy a beach morning before departing east to Abandze Beach below Ft. Amsterdam.
  • Continue to Kokrobite Beach. Food, music, crafts, and live music on weekends await. Arrive before dark to have a night of reflection by the beach.

Overnight at a 3-star beach resort in Kokrobite.

Day 11

Beach Time, Local Visit, and Departure

  • Enjoy the pool and beach before departing to Accra.
  • Spend some time socializing in an unplanned neighborhood to see our life. Visit a typical family compound home.
  • Receive a traditional blessing for a safe journey, followed by safe delivery to the airport 2 hours before your evening flight.
