Visit the main sights with a local Brașov guide.

  • Mureșianu House - a 19th-century cultural centre and the home of Iacob Mureșianu, founder of the Transylvanian Gazette, the first newspaper in the Romanian language in Transylvania.

  • St. Peter & Paul Cathedral - a Catholic church and one of the last Baroque buildings still standing in Brașov.

  • Behind the Walls Promenade - known as the Royal Promenade in the 1900s, this is a picturesque place for a cool summer walk.

  • Graft Bastion - built in 1521, the Saddlemakers' Bastion is one of the three preserved buildings of this kind in Brașov.

  • White & Black Towers - two of the exterior towers of the fortified city.

  • St. Catherine's & Schei Gates - the only two gates preserved to this day, once facilitating the access of the Wallachians into the city.

  • St. Nicholas' Cathedral - built in stone in 1495 on the site of an earlier church, this place is the cultural centre of the Romanian community.

  • The First Romanian School - this 17th-century building was where students learned to read and write Romanian in Cyrillic characters, and it was also home to Diaconu Coresi's famous printing press.

  • The Weavers Bastion - guarding one of the four corners of the city, this medieval building is today the best place to discover the city's original appearance.

  • Rope Street - the narrowest street in south-eastern Europe.

  • The Black Church - the largest Gothic monument between Vienna and Istanbul, with the largest musical organ and an impressive Ottoman (Anatolian) carpet collection.
