The itinerary

1
Day 01

Arrival in Arusha

  • Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival, your guide will pick you up from the airport and drive you to your accommodation in Arusha.
  • Depending on your arrival time, you will hopefully have time to relax and prepare for the adventure of a lifetime. Bustling Arusha is an essential part of safari life in northern Tanzania, and most travellers pass through at some stage.
2
Day 02

Tarangire's Elephants and Baobab Landscapes

  • After breakfast, your guide will collect you from your accommodation for the drive to Tarangire National Park. The journey takes approximately two and a half hours on good tarmac roads. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which runs through it and serves as the only water source for wildlife in the region during the dry season.
  • Tarangire is well known for its large elephant herds, which can often be seen gathering by the river. You may also spot giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, followed closely by predators such as lions and leopards. The park is home to more breeding species of birds than anywhere else on the planet. Towering ancient baobab trees, some over a thousand years old, add to the park's scenic beauty.
  • Lunch will be at a picnic site inside the park.
  • After your game drive, you will continue to your accommodation in Karatu.

Day 03

Through Ngorongoro to the Serengeti

  • After breakfast, you will drive into the cooler regions of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. There will be a stop to take in the breathtaking view of the Ngorongoro Crater before continuing through the conservation area and entering Serengeti National Park from the south.
  • The Serengeti is spectacular and renowned for its vast open grasslands, which allow for excellent wildlife sightings. While the park boasts abundant wildlife, it is perhaps best known for the annual Great Migration, when vast numbers of wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes move in search of fresh grazing. Depending on the time of year, you may have the chance to witness this incredible natural phenomenon, often considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World.
  • You will enjoy a picnic lunch and spend the night at a tented camp in Central Serengeti.
4
Day 04

Full-Day Game Drives in the Serengeti

  • This entire day is dedicated to game drives in the Serengeti. The park is home to an abundance of wildlife, including impalas, buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos. In addition to the iconic landscapes, you have a high chance of encountering predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Depending on the location of the Great Migration, you may explore areas beyond the Central Serengeti to witness this extraordinary spectacle. It is a truly life-changing experience.
5
Day 05

Serengeti Sunrise and Journey to Ngorongoro

  • Enjoy your final sunrise in the Serengeti! After a leisurely morning game drive, you will gradually make your way through the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
  • Today's journey takes you to the Ngorongoro Crater, where you will stay at a mid-range lodge near, but not on, the crater rim.
  • As you ascend to higher elevations, you will experience cooler temperatures and stunning scenery along the way. A hearty dinner awaits you at your lodge.
6
Day 06

Wildlife Encounters in Ngorongoro Crater

  • Your day begins with a drive down into the Ngorongoro Crater, a breathtaking natural wonder. The crater was formed when a massive volcano collapsed in on itself two to three million years ago, creating a unique and diverse ecosystem. Concealed by its steep volcanic walls lies a pristine wilderness of sweeping savannah, acacia woodlands, lakes, and swamps.
  • The crater is home to an astonishing density of wildlife, including large populations of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 bird species. It also offers one of the best chances to spot the endangered black rhino.
  • After a picnic lunch inside the crater, you will drive to your accommodation in Karatu.
7
Day 07

Lake Manyara and Safari Farewell

  • This morning, you will head to Lake Manyara National Park, the final stop on your epic safari adventure. Located 120 km west of Arusha, Manyara is a small but diverse park. The landscape is compact, making it one of Africa's narrowest parks, and dramatic, with the towering Great Rift Escarpment forming its western boundary.
  • The park's namesake is a shallow, saltwater lake that changes with the seasons and attracts thousands of wading birds, including flamingos. The park is also home to baboons, elephants, and the famous tree-climbing lions of Manyara.
  • You will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park before returning to your chosen drop-off location, whether Arusha, Kilimanjaro Airport, or Arusha Airport.
  • We hope you have enjoyed your adventure with us!
