Day 01
Pickup from Accommodation
- Your expert local driver-guide will pick you up at your accommodation in Reykjavik.
- Begin the scenic drive northwest out of Reykjavik, greeting the views of Mount Esja, the guardian of the city.
Þórufoss Waterfall
- Short stop at Þórufoss Waterfall, known for its appearance in Game of Thrones (Season 4, Drogon and the Goats).
- Take photos and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Drive through Hvalfjörður Fjord
- Continue onto Hvalfjarðarvegur (Road 47) and drive through the beautiful Hvalfjörður Fjord, or Whale Fjord.
- Admire dramatic fjord landscapes, waterfalls, and rugged mountains while your guide shares local history and folklore.
Steðji – Elf Rock Stop
- Take a short detour to Steðji, the goblet-shaped Elf Rock.
- Learn about Staupasteinn, the elf said to reside in the rock, and hear stories of Icelandic folklore.
- Enjoy light photography and the mystical surroundings.
Hvalfjörður Scenic Exploration
- Continue driving along Hvalfjörður, stopping at notable viewpoints, small waterfalls, and historic sites along the fjord.
- Optional short walks to scenic spots and hidden gems along the route.
- Your guide shares insights about local geology, history, and traditional Icelandic life.
Return to Reykjavik
- Drive back to Reykjavik via the same scenic fjord route.
- Drop off at your accommodation, completing the private Hvalfjörður experience.
