12-Day Madagascar Wildlife and Island Tour with Nosy Be

Day 01

Arrival in Antananarivo

• You will be greeted on arrival by your English-speaking guide from I Travel 2 Madagascar, who will assist you with all formalities and transfer you to your hotel.

Day 02

Peyreiras Reptile Reserve and Drive to Andasibe

• After breakfast at the hotel, depart for a visit to Peyreiras Reptile Reserve, about a 3-hour drive away, to see captive panther chameleons, island chameleons, stump-tail chameleons, Brookesia chameleons, golden mantella frogs, tomato frogs, Madagascar tree boas, leaf-nose snakes, cat-eyed snakes, tenrecs, and numerous species of leaf-tail geckos.
• The curators of the reserve usually take the animals out of their enclosures to allow close photographs.
• Continue to Andasibe, with stops along the way for landscape photos and any breaks if necessary.

Day 03

Andasibe-Mantadia National Park and Return to Antananarivo

• After breakfast, meet your guide for a visit to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park and trek along the trails to see wild diademed sifakas, woolly sifakas, common brown lemurs, and the famous Indri Indri.
• Explore the trails for orchids and birdlife. In the afternoon, visit Vakona Lodge's reserve to see common brown sifakas, grey bamboo lemurs, and black-and-white ruffed lemurs.
• Head back to Antananarivo, with stops for lunch along the road.

Day 04

Flight to Nosy Be

• After breakfast at the hotel, transfer directly to Antananarivo airport for your flight to Nosy Be, located in the Mozambique Channel. Its name means "big island," and the climate is nearly perfect all year round.

Day 05

Nosy Tanikely and Sunset at Mont Passot

• Enjoy an excursion to Nosy Tanikely, a marine reserve that lures snorkellers and bird enthusiasts. It is a lovely little island where, in the clear water, you can see an amazing variety of marine life: coral, starfish, anemones, fish of every colour and shape, turtles, and lobsters.
• You may also see black and brown lemurs, flying foxes, and graceful white-tailed tropic birds, followed by a short climb up to the lighthouse at the top of the island.
• Late in the afternoon, admire the sunset from Mont Passot, one of the island's highest points at about 326 m.

Day 06

Island Tour of Nosy Be

• A visit to the island of Nosy Be by car will be organised, during which you will discover Andilana Beach, the cascade, and the Sacred Trees.

Day 07

Excursion to Nosy Iranja

• Take an excursion to Nosy Iranja, 50 km southwest of Nosy Be. This is actually a pair of small islands connected by a 1.25 km sandbar that is walkable at low tide.
• It has incredibly clear turquoise waters, beautiful white beaches, and a charming old lighthouse.

Day 08

Free Time and Return Flight to Antananarivo

• Enjoy some time to relax on your own, and then one of our guides will transfer you to the airport for your departure to Antananarivo.

Day 09

Discover Ampefy and Its Natural Attractions

• Ampefy is a beautiful village situated 120 km west of Antananarivo. It is one of the most appreciated places to spend the weekend for people from the city and for tourists.
• The famous Lake Itasy, the Lily Waterfall, the Ilot de la Vierge, and the Geyser of Amparaky are the main attractions that you will visit.
• Visit the Geyser of Analavory and the Ilot de la Vierge.

Day 10

Lake Itasy Canoe Ride and Lily Waterfall

• After breakfast, embark in a dugout canoe to cross Lake Itasy, then arrive at Ilot de la Vierge.
• Visit Lily Waterfall and head back to Antananarivo.

Day 11

Antananarivo City and Merina Culture

• Visit the city of Antananarivo, where you will come into contact with the culture of the Merina Tribe.

Day 12

Departure Transfer

• You will be transferred by one of our guides before your international flight.
