Fuk Tak Chi Museum

The walk begins at Fuk Tak Chi, one of Singapore's oldest temples and its very first street museum. Built by the Hakka and Cantonese communities in 1824, it once served as a place of worship, a community hall and a landmark for newly arrived immigrants navigating an unfamiliar city.

Lau Pa Sat

Perfectly timed for the opening of Satay Street, this is where the walk slows down. Pull up a stool and let your guide order some assorted charcoal-grilled satay skewers and a cold sugar cane drink, eaten in the open air at one of Singapore’s most iconic hawker centres.

Fullerton Bay

Stroll toward Merlion Park through Clifford Pier, passing one Fullerton Bay, one of Singapore's most elegant stretches of colonial waterfront. The Fullerton Hotel, originally built as the General Post Office in 1928, anchors this part of the walk.

Merlion Park

The walk continues to Merlion Park, home to Singapore's most recognised landmark. The half-lion, half-fish statue stands at the heart of Singapore, signifying Singapore’s humble origins as a fishing village and its remarkable bravery and strength as it transitioned into a modern, prosperous metropolis.

Cavanagh Bridge

Cross Cavanagh Bridge, Singapore's oldest surviving bridge, into the stretch of the Singapore River called the "fish belly", a quiet bend in the river with a story that goes back to the early colonial times.

Boat Quay

The walk ends at Boat Quay, once the commercial heart of colonial Singapore and now one of the liveliest stretches of the riverside. Your guide will point you toward what to do next, whether that's a drink at the water's edge or more exploration on your own terms.
