Shimba Hills Safari and Sheldrick Waterfalls
Get picked up from your hotel in Malindi, Watamu, Mombasa North, or Diani Beach, or from Mombasa Airport early in the morning, and drive to Shimba Hills through Digo homesteads, home to the local coastal tribespeople, and coconut plantations.
Arrive at the Shimba Hills National Reserve gate and meet the Shimba safari guide.
Begin a game drive and visit Sheldrick Waterfalls, escorted by a game ranger.
Visit other attractions in Shimba Hills, such as the Casuarinas forests, Marere Dam, a waterhole where animals come to drink, and Sheldrick Waterfalls. The landscape is mainly grassland, and animals seen in this area include elephants, buffalos, giraffes, impalas, hartebeest, rare leopards, black and white monkeys, attractive sable antelopes, and roan antelopes. Birdlife includes tropical guinea fowls, fish eagles, falcons, and weaver birds, among others.
Take a break for lunch at Shimba Hills Lodge, one of the top hotels in the coastal region, and enjoy the chance to see animals at the waterhole.
Continue with another game drive until 3:00 pm.
Check out from Shimba Hills and drive back, arriving at your hotel in the evening.
Drive on to your hotel, Mombasa Port, or the airport.
