The itinerary

1

Day 01

Tashkent to Chimgan and Gulkam Canyon Camp

• Departure from Tashkent to the mountain village of Chimgan (H = 1500 m, L = 90 km, T = 1 h 30 m).
• We begin our trekking on a good path toward Gulkam Canyon through Pesochnyi (Sandy) Pass (H = 1830 m; T = 40 min).
• The saddle offers a panoramic view of the Chimgansai River valley, Kyzyljar (Red Precipice), the ski resort, and Chimgan village.
• After resting on the saddle, we begin a slightly steep ascent to Mt. Small Chimgan (H = 2096 m). The peak offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Charvak Lake and the Chimgan valley.
• After an hour of descent, you reach a picturesque glade surrounded by birch trees.
• Further downstream, you can see a narrow entrance to Gulkam Canyon - one of the most beautiful places in the Western Tian-Shan. Overnight in a tent.

Day 02

Eastern Chimgan, Waterfalls, and Return to Tashkent

• In the morning, we begin our hike with a steady ascent to Eastern Chimgan.
• After 2 hours of walking, we reach a green meadow where we rest and enjoy the majestic view of Vadaprovod Waterfall.
• After a few more hours of hiking, we reach the Gulkamsay River and encounter a 10-meter waterfall that is 7 meters wide.
• Leaving the gorge behind, we proceed down the Gulkamsay River along a scenic canyon, crossing the stream several times and wading through the water.
• On your left, you will see a spring gushing from under the rock.
• We return to Tashkent (L = 110 km; T = 1 hr 20 min) via Yangikurgan and Yusupkhona villages and Charvak water.
