Embark on a 3-day safari adventure through Tanzania's top wildlife destinations. Travel across the scenic Masai plains to Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and diverse wildlife, then descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater for close encounters with the 'Big Five' and other fascinating species. Continue to Lake Manyara National Park, where lush landscapes, pink flamingos, and abundant wildlife create a memorable finale before returning to Arusha.

The itinerary

Day 01

Tarangire National Park Safari

In the morning, you will be collected from Arusha or the airport by your personal safari guide.
Set out for Tarangire National Park on a good tarmac road across gently rolling Masai plains dotted with scattered acacia trees.
As you travel, pass many Masai in their colorful dress walking along the roadside, riding bicycles, herding cattle, and driving donkey carts. Tarangire National Park, well known for its large elephant herds, is also home to a multitude of other creatures.
From the open roof of your state-of-the-art safari jeep, experience the seasonal swamps, savanna, and life-giving Tarangire River while seeking out a wide variety of wildlife, from zebra and wildebeest to buffalo, elephant, and giraffe, to name but a few.
It is possible that you will glimpse lions stalking prey or leopards relaxing in the trees above.
After a full day in the park, drive to the excellently appointed lodge, where you can enjoy dinner in the aesthetically delightful restaurant, relax, and spend the night in spacious rooms.

Day 02

Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive

Rise and shine for an early departure to the lush highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Once you reach the crater rim, drive down a steep track into the 600 m deep caldera to see a remarkable range of animals and birds. This collapsed volcano is home to over 25,000 mammals, including the 'Big Five' - lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard - as well as more than 500 species of birds.
After an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch in the crater, return to Karatu for your overnight stay.

Day 03

Lake Manyara Wildlife Safari

Early in the morning, after breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a journey of approximately 2 hours.
Upon arrival, embark on a game drive through the park's diverse habitats, where you can spot zebras, impalas, monkeys, giraffes, buffalos, hippos, warthogs, and other wildlife.
Marvel at the pink flamingos along the lake's edge and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Great Rift Valley.
After a picnic lunch, continue your exploration before exiting the park in the afternoon.
You will then drive back to Arusha, where your safari concludes with a drop-off at your hotel or the airport for your onward journey.
