Day 01

Kumano Kodo Kiiji Route Walk from Kainan Station

  • 9:00: Begin at Kainan Station.
  • 9:30: Visit Fujishiro Shrine, a key location on the pilgrimage route where former emperors once stayed and one of the five most prestigious shrines among the 99 Kumano shrines.
  • 10:30: Continue to Togezaka Oji.
  • 11:00: Visit Kitsumoto Shrine, which enshrines Tajimamori, the deity of mandarin oranges and sweets, as well as Kumano Iza no Okami.
  • 12:30: Stop at Kainan Sakuas for lunch. This roadside station promotes a variety of local resources and their appeal, including mandarin oranges and fish, and has been bustling with visitors since its grand opening on September 2, 2023.
  • 14:00: Return to Kainan Station by transfer.
