Day 01

Koyasan's Sacred Landmarks

9:00 - Daimon Gate
- See the 25.8-meter-high multi-story gate. A powerful 4.8-meter-high statue of Kongorikishi stands at the gate.
9:30 - Danjo Garan
- When Kukai founded Koyasan, this was the first temple he built, and it remains one of the two sacred sites of Koyasan along with Okuno-in Temple.
10:30 - Kongobuji Temple
- Visit the head temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism in Japan.
12:00 - Lunch
- Enjoy lunch time.
13:00 - Okunoin
- This is the center of faith at Koyasan and the sacred place where Kobo Daishi is enshrined.
