Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arusha to Arusha National Park

   Distance: Approx. 25 km (about 45 minutes drive)
   Accommodation: Camp in Arusha National Park

   Morning

   • Pick-up from your hotel in Arusha (early morning, around 7:30 AM).
   • Drive to Arusha National Park: The drive takes about 45 minutes. You’ll enter the park through the Momella Gate.

   Morning Game Drive

   • Upon entry, enjoy a morning game drive in the Momella Plains area, where you’ll likely spot a variety of animals such as giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and several species of antelope.
   • You might also see monkeys, warthogs, and various birds.

   Exploring the Park's Highlights

   • Ngurdoto Crater: Explore the lush and beautiful Ngurdoto Crater, often referred to as "Little Ngorongoro" due to its resemblance to the larger Ngorongoro Crater. It's an excellent spot for viewing wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, and a variety of bird species.
   • Lake Momella: Visit the picturesque Momella Lakes, where you can enjoy the sight of flamingos and other birdlife. Depending on the season, you might even see a variety of migratory birds here.

   Lunch in the Park

   • Picnic Lunch: You can have a packed picnic lunch in the park or stop at a designated picnic area, enjoying the scenery and watching wildlife.

   Afternoon Activities

   • Optional Guided Walking Safari: In the afternoon, enjoy a walking safari with a ranger. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the flora, fauna, and the environment of Arusha National Park. You'll get a close-up view of nature and may encounter animals like giraffes, warthogs, and birds.

   Set Up Camp

   • After your activities, head to the campsite where you’ll be spending the night. There are several campsites in the park, including Seronera Camp or other designated camping areas.
   • Enjoy the serenity and quiet of the park as you relax around the campfire.

   Dinner and Overnight at Camp

   • Enjoy a delicious dinner at the camp, cooked by your guide or safari chef, while you relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.

2. Day 2: Full Day Safari and Return to Arusha

   Distance: Approx. 25 km (1 hour) back to Arusha after the safari

   Early Morning

   • Wake up early to enjoy a peaceful sunrise over Mount Meru.
   • Breakfast at the campsite.

   Morning Game Drive

   • Morning Game Drive: Head out for an early morning game drive to spot more wildlife. This is the best time to see predators like leopards or even lions (though rare in this park). Look for elephants, giraffes, zebras, and many bird species.

   Optional Activities

   • If you’re feeling adventurous, you can opt for a canoeing safari on Lake Momella (subject to availability and safety conditions). This is a unique way to explore the park from a different perspective.
   • Alternatively, if you missed any highlights on the previous day, you can revisit areas like the Ngurdoto Crater or Momella Lakes.

   Lunch

   • Stop for a packed lunch in the park, or head to the park’s rest camp for a meal.

   Afternoon Game Drive and Return

   • After lunch, enjoy another game drive or some more time at the lake.
   • At around 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM, begin your departure from the park.

   Return to Arusha

   • Head back to Arusha, where you’ll arrive by late afternoon (around 4:30 PM - 5:00 PM).
