Itinerary

1. Day 1: Ranu Pane to Kalimati

   • Meet your local tour guide in Surabaya for pick-up and transfer.  

   • Enter the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.

   • After registration, start trekking to the Ranu Kumbolo hike post. Ranu Kumbolo is a lake at an altitude of 2400 masl.

   • Walk for 4 hours to reach. Take your long break and lunch while enjoying the view and the weather of the lake.

   • Keep walking for approximately 3 hours to get to the Kalimati hiking post.

   • There you will set your first camp, have dinner, and rest for the day.

2. Day 2: The Mahameru

   • Wake up at midnight and prepare for the most difficult hike.

   • Eat before you go. Bring only water, a camera and some snacks, and only lightweight things.

   • Don't forget to bring a small backpack and headlamp. The journey to the summit usually takes 4-5 hours, but it depends on the personal fitness level. The track elevation is at least 45 degrees, which is only sands, and stones. This journey will be very hard, and dusty. 

   • Once you get to the top, enjoy the view, and make sure to take some pictures.

   • See the crater but it is highly not recommended, the active volcano is bursting gas, sometimes lava and burning rocks, which can fly high enough to reach the place where you stand close to the crater.

   • Get back to Kalimati base camp before 8 am, as, at that time, the wind shift blows the poisonous gas from the crater to the hiking track.

   • Trek to Kalimati to have your long break and breakfast, (or brunch).

   • Pack your things, and descend back to Ranu Kumbolo. Have lunch, and set the camp.

3. Day 3: Ranu Kumbolo

   • Enjoy the beautiful sunrise. Don't forget to take pictures.

   • Pack all your things because you are going back to Ranu Pane base camp.

   • Transfer back to Malang or Surabaya where your journey is going to end.
