The itinerary

Day 01

From San Pedro de Atacama to Villamar

  • Start from the hotel with a private shuttle between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m. to the Bolivian border, at an altitude of 4,400 m.a.s.l.
  • There, change vehicles from a minibus to a Toyota Land Cruiser 4WD, with a maximum capacity of 6 passengers, and continue with a Spanish-speaking driver-guide. Visits include:
    • Laguna Blanca
    • Laguna Verde (better visited on the way back)
    • Desierto Salvador Dalí
    • Termas de Polques
    • Geyser Sol de Mañana
    • Laguna Colorada

Accommodation: 1st night at Mallku Cueva in Villamar.

Day 02

Villamar, highland lagoons, and Colchani

  • From Villamar in the morning, visit the Stone City, the highland lagoons of Vinto and Catal, and the Anaconda Canyon with its Andean wildlife.
  • Then explore the salt handicrafts in Colchani, Incahuasi Island, and the Minas de Sal (salt-brick mining site).
  • Enjoy a sunset with an aperitif in the Salar.
  • Accommodation: 2nd night at Luna Salada in Colchani.

Day 03

Cross the Uyuni Salt Flat and altiplanic lagoons

  • Departure is at 08:00, after breakfast. Cross the Uyuni Salt Flat from west to east. The main places visited along the route include:
    • Museo de Sal
    • Minas de Sal
    • Ojos del Salar
    • Dakar Monument
    • Flags Square
    • Escalera al Cielo
    • Pueblo de Colchani Crafts Village
    • Cemetery of Trains
  • Later, begin an amazing journey among the altiplanic lagoons - Lagunas Carcota, Honda, Hedionda, and Laguna Kanapa. Cross the Siloli Desert and reach the hotel before sunset.

3rd night: Hotel Tayka del Desierto, Ojo de Perdiz.

Day 04

Return to San Pedro de Atacama

  • Departure is at 08:00 a.m. from the last hotel, returning to the Bolivia-Chile border (Hito Cajón), with a stop at Laguna Verde. Arrive at Bolivian immigration at 4:00 p.m. and return to San Pedro de Atacama at 5:00 p.m.
  • Stops also include Árbol de Piedra and the Inca Trail.

End of service.

Since the tour is mostly conducted at altitudes of 4,000 m, the following cannot take part in the tour:

  • Children under 6 years of age.
  • Adults over 65 years of age.
  • Pregnant women.
  • People with hypertension, heart failure, asthma, or similar conditions.

Passengers of Venezuelan nationality residing in Chile may take part in the tour only if they have permanent residence in that country.
