The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Zanzibar and Transfer to Stone Town

  • You will arrive at Amani Abeid Karume International Airport in Zanzibar, where you will be warmly welcomed by your guide. After an introduction and briefing about the upcoming days, you'll be transferred to your accommodation.
  • Your first night in Zanzibar will be at Kholle House, an elegant boutique hotel that blends Zanzibar's historical charm with modern comforts. Located in the heart of Stone Town, Kholle House offers a peaceful retreat after your long flight.
  • Enjoy your first dinner at the hotel and an overnight stay.

Day 02

Stone Town Discovery and Spice Farm Experience

  • After breakfast, your guide will take you on a city tour of Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • As you walk through the narrow, winding streets, you'll learn about Zanzibar's fascinating history, including its role as a center for the spice trade and its Arab, Persian, Indian, and European influences. Key highlights will include the House of Wonders, Old Fort, and Sultan's Palace.
  • You'll also visit the Spice Farm, where you can see and smell various spices like cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon - Zanzibar is known as the 'Spice Island.'

Day 03

Prison Island and Nakupenda Beach Escape

  • Today, after breakfast, you'll take a boat ride to Prison Island (Changuu Island), which is just 30 minutes from Stone Town. Originally built as a quarantine station for yellow fever, it now serves as a sanctuary for the endangered Aldabra tortoises.
  • You can walk around the island, interact with the tortoises, and enjoy its tranquil beauty.
  • Afterward, you will visit Nakupenda Beach, a stunning sandbank that is only accessible by boat.
  • Here, you'll enjoy the beautiful white sand, crystal-clear waters, and perfect conditions for swimming and snorkeling.
  • Lunch will be served on the beach. Return to Stone Town for dinner at Kholle House and your overnight stay.

Day 04

Safari Blue Dhow Excursion

  • This day is dedicated to the Safari Blue excursion, one of Zanzibar's most popular activities.
  • After breakfast, you will be taken to the Fumba Peninsula, where you'll board a traditional dhow boat for a full-day tour of the islands.
  • You'll explore the turquoise waters, visit Kwale Island, snorkel in pristine coral reefs, and perhaps spot dolphins.
  • Lunch will be served on a secluded sandbank in the middle of the ocean, where you can enjoy fresh seafood and fruits while surrounded by natural beauty.
  • After this exciting day, return to Kholle House for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 05

Flight to Arusha and Tarangire Safari

  • After breakfast at your hotel, you will board a morning flight to Arusha, Tanzania's safari capital.
  • Upon arrival, you'll meet your safari guide, who will transfer you to Tarangire National Park. The park is about a 2-hour drive from Arusha. Tarangire, established in 1970, is known for its large elephant herds and striking baobab trees.
  • The park covers an area of 2,850 square kilometers (1,100 square miles) and is home to an array of wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and lions.
  • You'll stop for a picnic lunch within the park, continuing your safari in the afternoon.
  • In the evening, head to Martina's Retreat for dinner and an overnight stay. Martina's Retreat is a comfortable and welcoming lodge near the park, perfect for relaxing after a day of game viewing.

Day 06

Ngorongoro Crater Wildlife Adventure

  • After an early breakfast, you'll head to the Ngorongoro Crater, which is about a 2-hour drive from Tarangire. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most iconic safari destinations in Africa, often called the 'Eighth Wonder of the World.'
  • Formed by a collapsed volcanic caldera, the crater is a lush, fertile sanctuary that houses a wide variety of wildlife. It covers an area of 264 square kilometers (102 square miles) and is home to approximately 25,000 animals, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, and wildebeests.
  • A highlight is the chance to see endangered black rhinos up close, as well as large prides of lions and other predators.
  • You will have a picnic lunch on the crater floor, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.
  • After a full day of exploration, you will return to Martina's Retreat for dinner and your overnight stay.

Return Flight to Zanzibar and Kena Beach

  • After breakfast, you will take a flight back to Zanzibar, arriving in the late afternoon.
  • Your accommodation for the next few nights will be Kena Beach Hotel, a beautiful beach resort located on the north coast of Zanzibar. The hotel is set on a quiet stretch of beach, perfect for relaxation after your safari adventure.
  • Enjoy dinner at the hotel and your overnight stay.

Day 08

Dolphin Encounter and Sea Turtle Lagoon

  • Today's adventure will take you to the Kizimkazi village, where you'll have the chance to swim with dolphins in their natural habitat.
  • The waters around Kizimkazi are home to wild bottle-nose dolphins, and you will have an opportunity to see these playful creatures up close.
  • Afterward, you'll visit the Natural Aquarium, a shallow lagoon where you can swim with sea turtles. This protected area is a great place to see these gentle creatures in their natural environment.
  • Return to Kena Beach Hotel for lunch, followed by a relaxing afternoon on the beach.
  • Dinner and an overnight stay will be at the hotel.

Leisure Day at Kena Beach

  • Today is a free day to relax and enjoy the beauty of Zanzibar at your own pace.
  • Spend the day lounging on the beach, taking part in water sports like kayaking or paddleboarding, or simply relaxing by the pool. You may also wish to explore the nearby area or indulge in a spa treatment.
  • Lunch will be served at the hotel, and in the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at Kena Beach Hotel as you watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean.

Day 10

Departure from Zanzibar

  • On the final day of your trip, you will enjoy a leisurely breakfast at Kena Beach Hotel.
  • Depending on the timing of your flight, you may have some last moments to relax or shop for souvenirs before you are transferred to Amani Abeid Karume International Airport. Be sure to arrive at the airport at least two hours before your departure time for check-in and security procedures.
  • From here, you will catch your flight back home, bringing with you memories of a truly unforgettable Tanzanian adventure.
