Experience the beauty of Burundi on this 5-day tour through Bujumbura, Rumonge, and Gitega. Explore Bujumbura on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, visit Kigwena Natural Reserve for wildlife and forest plants, and experience the naturally hot waters of Magara. Continue to Karera and Mwishanga waterfalls and enjoy a cultural visit to Gishora Drummer Sanctuary before returning to Bujumbura for departure.

We will continue to the place called Karera Falls, which was used by German soldiers during the First World War.

The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival in Bujumbura

On this day, you will meet our company representative at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport, who will take you to Safari Gate Hotel. He will assist you with check-in at the reception and brief you again about the whole trip. If you would like to shop for some souvenirs, he will take you to the supermarket, depending on your arrival time.

Day 02

Bujumbura City Tour and Transfer to Rumonge

On the second day, after breakfast at 7 a.m., we will leave the hotel to tour Bujumbura city, passing along the shoreline of Lake Tanganyika.
After that, we will return to the hotel for lunch. Then, in the afternoon, we will drive to Rumonge Province to spend the night at Sunstone Beach Resort.

Day 03

Kigwena Natural Reserve and Magara Thermal Water

On the third day, we will leave the hotel after breakfast at 7 a.m. and drive to Kigwena Natural Reserve to visit wild animals in their natural habitat and see the plants hosted by the forest.
Afterwards, we will go straight to Magara thermal water to experience its natural hotness, and then we will return to the hotel to spend another night.

Day 04

Karera and Mwishanga Waterfalls with Gishora Drummer Sanctuary

On this day, we will wake up early in the morning for breakfast, then leave the hotel at 7 a.m. for a drive of around 3 hours to visit Karera and Mwishanga waterfalls, described as the best waterfalls compared to Niagara. We will continue to the place called Karera Falls, which was used by German soldiers during the First World War.
We will finish the day's journey at Burundi's cultural accommodation in Gishora Drummer Sanctuary to be entertained and learn more about the history of the country, and we will spend the night in the political capital, Gitega.

Day 05

Return to Bujumbura and Departure

On the last day, we will leave the hotel at 8 a.m. after breakfast. Then we will drive for around 3 hours to Bujumbura, where you will have time to go to the market to buy some souvenirs and return to the hotel as early as possible to prepare to go home.

This will be the end of the 5-day Burundi tour.
