Itinerary

1. Day 0: Arrival in Moshi/Arusha

   • Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your guide will greet you and transfer you to your accommodation in Moshi or Arusha, the perfect base for your upcoming adventure. 
   • Take some time to relax and acclimatize to the vibrant atmosphere of Tanzania. 
   • Enjoy a delicious dinner, perhaps sampling local dishes that highlight the region's flavors. 
   • This evening, you’ll have a pre-trek briefing where your guide will go over the Machame Route and what to expect on the journey ahead, ensuring you’re well-prepared for the exciting days to come.

2. Day 1: Machame Hut (2,832 m)

   • After an early breakfast, you’ll begin your trek on the Machame Route, starting from the Machame Gate. 
   • The hike today takes you through lush rainforests, filled with vibrant flora and fauna. 
   • As you ascend, keep an eye out for colorful birds and playful monkeys. 
   • The trail leads you to Machame Hut, your campsite for the night, where you’ll enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains. 
   • After setting up camp and enjoying a hearty dinner prepared by your crew, take time to stargaze in the clear night sky, reflecting on the adventure that lies ahead.

3. Day 2: Shira Cave Camp (3,750 m)

   • After a nutritious breakfast, you’ll embark on a moderate hike to Shira Cave Camp. The path takes you above the forest line and into the moorland zone, providing breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro’s summit. 
   • Along the way, you’ll encounter unique plant species like the giant lobelia and Senecio. 
   • Once at Shira Cave Camp, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the Shira Plateau and take in panoramic views. 
   • As night falls, gather around the dining tent to share stories with fellow trekkers and enjoy a warm meal before retiring for the night.

4. Day 3: Barranco Camp (3,950 m)

   • Today’s hike takes you to Baranco Camp, but not before experiencing the stunning beauty of the Shira Plateau. 
   • You’ll trek along the beautiful ridges with awe-inspiring views, before descending into the Barranco Valley. This area is known for its dramatic landscapes and the famous Barranco Wall, a formidable climb that awaits you tomorrow. 
   • Arriving at Baranco Camp, you can relax and soak in the scenery while your crew prepares dinner. 
   • Enjoy another evening under the stars, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of nature.

5. Day 4: Barafu Camp (4,673 m)

   • Prepare for an exhilarating day as you trek from Baranco Camp to Barafu Camp. 
   • After breakfast, tackle the challenging Barranco Wall, where you’ll use both hands and feet to ascend. 
   • Once at the top, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the valley below and the glaciers of Kilimanjaro. 
   • The trail continues through rocky terrain and alpine desert, leading to Barafu Camp, your base for the summit push. 
   • After a hearty dinner, rest well, as you’ll be waking up early for the final ascent to Uhuru Peak.

6. Day 5: Mweka Camp (3,100 m)

   • Early in the morning, you’ll set off for your summit attempt, beginning the ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). This challenging climb takes you through the night and into the early hours of the morning. 
   • After reaching the summit, bask in the breathtaking sunrise over the African landscape before descending to Barafu Camp for a short rest. 
   • From there, you’ll continue your trek to Mweka Camp, where you can celebrate your successful summit with your fellow climbers. 
   • Enjoy a well-deserved dinner and relax as you reflect on the incredible achievement.

7. Day 6: Mweka Gate (1,700 m) and return to Arusha

   • After a final breakfast at Mweka Camp, you’ll trek down through the lush rainforest back to Mweka Gate. The descent offers a different perspective of the flora and fauna, making it a delightful experience. 
   • Upon reaching Mweka Gate, you’ll receive your summit certificates as a testament to your achievement. 
   • Afterward, you’ll be transported back to Arusha for a night of relaxation and celebration. 
   • Enjoy a celebratory dinner at a local restaurant, sharing stories of your climb and looking forward to the exciting safari that awaits.

8. Day 7: Tarangire National Park

   • After breakfast, you’ll set off for Tarangire National Park, renowned for its large herds of elephants and stunning baobab trees.
   • Upon arrival, embark on a game drive through the park, where you’ll have the opportunity to spot lions, giraffes, and a variety of antelope. The park’s diverse ecosystems provide excellent wildlife viewing, especially around the Tarangire River.
   • Enjoy a picnic lunch amid nature, surrounded by the sounds of wildlife. 
   • In the late afternoon, you’ll head to your lodge for dinner and an evening of relaxation, reflecting on your safari experience.

9. Day 8: Serengeti National Park

   • Today, you’ll journey to the iconic Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 
   • As you drive through the picturesque landscapes, you’ll begin to see the vast plains that define this legendary park. 
   • Upon arrival, embark on an afternoon game drive, where you’ll have the chance to witness the incredible wildlife that the Serengeti is famous for, including the Great Migration (season-dependent). 
   • Keep your camera ready for breathtaking scenes of nature in action. 
   • After a day of exploration, head to your lodge or campsite for dinner, where you can share your sights with fellow travelers.

10. Day 9: Serengeti National Park

    • Today is dedicated to further exploring the Serengeti, giving you ample time to experience its rich biodiversity. 
    • You can choose between a morning and an afternoon game drive, or even opt for a full-day adventure, depending on your interests. Witnessing the migration of wildebeest and zebras is a highlight, alongside spotting predators like lions and leopards. The Serengeti’s varied landscapes, from savannahs to kopjes, provide unique viewing opportunities. 
    • As the day winds down, return to your accommodation for dinner, where you can enjoy local cuisine and recount the day’s wildlife encounters.

11. Day 10: Ngorongoro Crater and Return to Arusha

    • After breakfast, you’ll head to the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most extraordinary wildlife areas. 
    • Descend into the crater floor, where you’ll have the chance to spot the Big Five amidst the breathtaking scenery. 
    • Enjoy a picnic lunch in the crater, surrounded by the vibrant wildlife that thrives here. 
    • After a fulfilling day of game viewing, you’ll make your way back to Arusha for an overnight stay. 
    • Relax and reflect on the incredible wildlife experiences you’ve had as you prepare for your next adventure in Zanzibar.

12. Day 11: Stone Town Tour, Zanzibar

    • This morning, you’ll fly to Zanzibar, where your adventure continues in the enchanting Stone Town. 
    • Upon arrival, embark on a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, rich in history and culture. 
    • Wander through narrow streets lined with intricately carved doors, visit the bustling markets, and explore the historic sites, including the Old Fort and the House of Wonders. 
    • Learn about the island’s diverse cultural influences, from Arab to African heritage. 
    • In the evening, savor a delightful dinner at a local restaurant, sampling the flavors of Zanzibari cuisine while enjoying the island’s vibrant atmosphere.

13. Day 12: Spice Farm Tour

    • Today, you’ll immerse yourself in Zanzibar’s famed spice culture with a tour of a local spice farm. 
    • As you stroll through the aromatic fields, your guide will introduce you to a variety of spices, herbs, and tropical fruits, explaining their uses in cooking and traditional medicine.
    • Experience the rich flavors of Zanzibar as you learn about its history as a spice trade hub. 
    • Enjoy a delicious lunch featuring local ingredients before returning to your accommodation. 
    • The afternoon is free for you to relax or explore more of Stone Town at your leisure.

14. Day 13: Nungwi Island Tour

    • After breakfast, you’ll travel to Nungwi, a picturesque village on Zanzibar’s northern coast. 
    • Here, you can relax on stunning white-sand beaches or take part in various water activities, such as snorkeling or diving in the crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean. 
    • Visit a local dhow-building workshop to learn about traditional boat construction. 
    • Enjoy a leisurely lunch at a beachfront restaurant, soaking in the serene atmosphere. 
    • Spend the rest of the day unwinding by the beach or exploring the village, culminating in a sunset over the ocean, a perfect way to conclude your time in Zanzibar.

15. Day 14: Prison Island Tour and Departure

    • On your final day, you’ll enjoy a short boat trip to Prison Island, home to the famous giant tortoises and a fascinating history as a former quarantine station. 
    • Explore the island’s beautiful beaches and enjoy some time snorkeling in the vibrant coral reefs. 
    • After your island visit, return to the main island for last-minute shopping or relaxation before your departure.
