8-Day Madagascar Wildlife Tour with Andasibe, Kirindy and Baobab Avenue

• Arrival at Ivato International Airport, Antananarivo, where you will be welcomed by an HT Agency Tours representative.
• After customs formalities, your guide will assist you with the rest of the arrival process, including changing money, setting up your phone with a new SIM card, and anything else you may need. This will make communication easier. Then, drive directly to Andasibe.
• Along National Road No. 2 to the east, enjoy panoramic views of stepped rice fields. You will see various mountains before continuing through the green and luxuriant vegetation of eastern Madagascar.
• Upon arrival and check-in at the hotel around 6:30 PM, end the day with a guided night visit lasting about 1 hour and 30 minutes, then drive back to the hotel.

DRIVE DURATION: ABOUT 4 TO 5 HOURS DRIVE

• After breakfast, start with a guided visit to Analamazaotra National Park. It is best to leave the hotel early, at about 7:30 AM, to more easily encounter the Indri-Indri and the diademed sifaka in their forest home.
• The visit takes about 3 hours. Within a mile of the park, you can hear the peculiar call of the indri very early in the morning until noon, and again in the late afternoon. Indris, called Babakoto in Malagasy, are the largest living lemurs and can reach up to 1 metre.
• Andasibe is the best place to observe the indris, as there are a couple of families habituated to humans. They live in small groups and cannot survive in captivity.
• There are several legends that try to explain its origins, since it is considered a sacred animal throughout Madagascar.
• Apart from the indri, another 13 lemur species inhabit these forests, including the woody lemur, grey bamboo lemur, diademed sifaka, brown lemur, red mouse lemur, red-bellied lemur, black-and-white ruffed lemur, and even the aye-aye.
• In the afternoon, visit Andasibe village, known as "the City of Waters", and stroll through the local market to see Malagasy craftspeople at work.
• Then enjoy an amazing up-close and personal experience with lemurs on the private Lemurs Island, followed by a visit to the Vakona Reserve Zoo, where you will see many crocodiles in the huge river enclosure, native birds, and other wildlife in well-kept surroundings.

DRIVE DURATION: ABOUT 20 MN

• After breakfast, depart early back to the capital city and enjoy around 4 hours of driving through the spectacular eroded hills known as lavaka.
• On the way, visit Peyrieras Madagascar Exotic.
• This famous exotic animal breeding centre, owned by naturalist Andre Peyrieras, is where you can see almost all the chameleon species of Madagascar, as well as leaf-tailed geckos, lemurs, Coquerel's sifaka, and other interesting animals such as butterflies, moths including the giant Atlas moth, and tenrecs.

DRIVE DURATION: ABOUT 4 TO 5H DRIVE

• After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight from TNR, departing at 11:00 AM, to the west coast of the island, arriving in Morondava (MOQ) at 12:00 PM. Then check in at your hotel.
• After lunch, enjoy the rest of the day in Morondava. Relax on the beach and admire the incredible sunset.

DRIVE DURATION: ABOUT 1H35MN FLIGHT

• After breakfast, drive north for about 42 km along a somewhat dusty secondary road to reach the famous Kirindy Park. Check in at your hotel, Relais du Kirindy.
• Around 6:30 PM, begin a guided night walk in Kirindy Reserve. Kirindy is the best place on the whole island to observe the fosa.
• Other nocturnal species include the rare Coquerel's giant mouse lemur and pygmy mouse lemur, fork-crowned lemur, grey mouse lemur, western fat-tailed dwarf lemur, and red-tailed sportive lemur.
• Several bats, tenrecs, mongoose, and rodents complete the mammal population. Kirindy is also known for its endemic flora. There are three species of baobab: the Adansonia rubrostipa, or fony baobab, with a bottle-shaped trunk and major horizontal branches, between 5 and 20 metres; the Adansonia za, a tall tree ranging from 20 to 30 metres; and the Adansonia grandidieri, the biggest of the six species of baobab, reaching up to 30 metres.

• After breakfast, at around 7:00 AM, begin a guided daytime visit to Kirindy Reserve.
• Kirindy Reserve is home to seven species of lemur.
• The most common are the common brown lemurs and Verreaux's sifakas.
• These long-legged, seven-pound lemurs, white with dark patches, leap among tree trunks high in the canopy, propelled by their powerful hind legs while continually maintaining an upright posture. This magnificent forest is also home to 40 bird species, 50 reptile species, and 15 amphibian species.
• After visiting Kirindy Reserve, return to the road to Morondava and stop at the most scenic road in Madagascar: Baobab Avenue. Stunning and popular throughout the day, it is one of the country's best-known attractions.
• However, sunset is the best and most popular time to visit. Arrival in Morondava is at the end of the afternoon, followed by transfer to the hotel.

DRIVE DURATION: 2H30MN DRIVE (BUMPY ROAD)

• After breakfast, relax or enjoy a last visit in the area. Afterwards, take your flight back to the capital, Antananarivo.
• On arrival, check in at the hotel.
• Depending on your arrival time in Tana, you may choose whichever tour you would like to do that day, in consultation with your local guide and driver, such as purchasing souvenirs at the craft market or visiting places in the city.

• On this day, you will be picked up by your driver and transferred to the international airport for your onward flight.
