Pick-up starts between 4:00 AM and 4:30 AM, depending on your hotel location.
Early arrival ensures shorter waiting time, smoother registration, and better sea conditions.
Oslob, South Cebu, is approximately 3 to 3.5 hours by road from Cebu City or Mactan Island.
Along the way, you may see fishermen preparing their morning catch, green fields beside the sea, and the sunrise illuminating the coastline.
The whale shark experience is a privilege, not a show. These gentle giants, locally called Butanding, are protected marine species under Philippine law.
They are not trained or captive; they visit Oslob naturally for plankton feeding.
Never touch, chase, or feed the whale sharks.
Keep at least 4 meters (13 feet) away when swimming beside them.
Move slowly and calmly, as sudden motions may scare them.
Use only reef-safe sunscreen, or wear a rash guard instead.
Avoid loud noise or splashing.
Turn off your camera flash, as bright light may irritate the whale sharks.
