The itinerary

1
Day 01

Nairobi to Maasai Mara via the Great Rift Valley

  • Pick up from your hotel, residence, or the airport by your safari guide, accompanied by a company office representative for a safari briefing session. Then drive to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve while enjoying the scenic views of the Great Rift Valley. The Maasai Mara Game Reserve is the northern part of the Serengeti, one of Kenya's most favored game-viewing areas.

The reserve covers 700 square miles of magnificent wilderness. It is the Africa of the imagination, with endless reaches of acacia-dotted grasslands studded with hazy hills.

Enjoy an afternoon game drive to see the sundowner as you trail the Big 5, lions in large prides, elephants, buffalo, zebras, and numerous plains game. Lunch, dinner, and overnight stay at Mara Leisure Camp, Sopa Lodge, or Sentrim Mara Camp, or similar.

2
Day 02

Full-Day Maasai Mara Wildlife Safari

  • Spend the full day exploring the park in search of the Big 5 and trailing the wildebeest migration. Morning and afternoon game drives are offered. An optional hot air balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost of US$ 400 per person.

The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, leopards, many kinds of antelopes, and elephants.

It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna - lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena, and vultures. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. All meals and overnight at Mara Leisure Camp or Mara Sopa Lodge.

Day 03

Early Game Drive and Transfer to Lake Nakuru

  • Wake up at 06:00 am, have a cup of hot coffee or African tea, and proceed for an early morning game drive. The early morning game safari offers you a golden opportunity to witness early morning Big 5 kills. African jungle male lions are spotted along the trails, as well as other Kenya Big 5 animals, including the documented big cats from the documentary: lion, leopard, and black rhinos, if lucky.

The Kenya trails game viewing takes about 2-3 hours, then you return to the lodge or camp for a full breakfast. After breakfast, check out of the camp. For those who might be willing to visit the famous Masai Village, your driver will organize it for you at an extra cost of 20 USD per person. You will be entertained with Masai Moran dance as well as a visit to the Manyatta. Inside the Manyatta, take as many photos as you can as a memory of your Africa cultural visit.

Proceed to Lake Nakuru for lunch and an afternoon game drive. All meals and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge or similar.

Day 04

Lake Nakuru National Park and Return to Nairobi

  • After breakfast, proceed to Lake Nakuru National Park to arrive in good time for lunch and afternoon game drives at the scenic park, famed for numerous species of birdlife, especially the pink flamingos. Lake Nakuru is a shallow alkaline lake in the Rift Valley, renowned for its spectacular flamingo population as one of the world's greatest ornithological spectacles.

Although Lake Nakuru is primarily a bird sanctuary, there are a considerable number of animals to be encountered, including many large game animals such as zebras, elephants, and gazelles. This is one of your best chances of seeing rhinos. Lake Nakuru National Park was the first place in Kenya selected as a rhino reserve. It is also one of the few places where you can see Rothschild's giraffes.

Return to Nairobi with a stopover at Lake Naivasha for an optional 1-hour boat ride before proceeding to Nairobi, arriving late in the afternoon. Your driver will drop you at the place of your choice or transfer you to the airport for your onward flight.
