Embark on a wildlife discovery tour of Andasibe that starts and ends in Antananarivo. The itinerary

Day 01

Antananarivo to Andasibe Village and Night Walk

Meet and greet at the hotel, then travel directly to Andasibe village on a 4-hour drive.
On the way, we can stop at Madagascar Exotic Park to catch sight of different reptiles, butterflies, moths, insects, and more.
By 6:30 pm, begin your night walk safari at VOIMM, the community park, to see animals that are active only at night, where they are easy to find. You will discover the smallest lemurs and other endemic reptiles. Be ready with your raincoat, spray, and a lamp torch.

Day 02

Analamazaotra Rainforest, Vakona Reserve, and Andasibe Village

8:00 AM - Guided visit to Analamazaotra-Mantadia Rainforest: Begin your day with a guided tour of the Analamazaotra-Mantadia Rainforest, one of Madagascar's most biodiverse areas. This pristine rainforest is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including several species of lemurs - most notably the Indri-Indri - as well as an array of birds, reptiles, amphibians, and small mammals. You'll embark on a 3 to 5-hour hike through the lush forest, accompanied by an experienced local guide. The duration of the hike will depend on wildlife sightings, as some animals can be elusive.
2:00 PM - Visit Vakona Reserve Forest: After your rainforest adventure, we will drive to Vakona Forest Lodge to visit its private lemur island. Here, you'll have the unique opportunity to interact with various species of lemurs in a semi-wild environment, observing their behavior up close in a safe and natural setting.
3:30 PM - Explore the village of Andasibe: Following your visit to Vakona Forest Lodge, take a tour of the nearby Andasibe village. Learn about local traditions and village life, with a chance to interact with the community and gain insights into their culture.
5:00 PM - Return to hotel: After an enriching day of exploring both nature and culture, return to your hotel to relax and reflect on the day's experiences.

Day 03

Return to Antananarivo and Capital City Tour

7:00 am - After breakfast, we will drive back to Antananarivo. Today is our chance to visit the capital center, the Queen Palace, enjoy the panoramic viewpoint, and discover the city on foot while tasting the local cuisine.
We will transfer you to your hotel or directly to the airport if your flight leaves on the same day or in the afternoon.

What to bring

Credit cards are still not used widely in Madagascar. However, they are accepted in big cities, international hotels, and banks in all cities. You will find ATMs in most main cities, where you can withdraw Ariary. VISA and MASTERCARD are the most commonly accepted cards. It is also useful to bring some cash in Euros or US dollars. Please note that $100 bills dated 2006 are not accepted (bills dated after 2017 are acceptable).
Voltage: 220 volts - 50 hertz, French-style sockets with 2 round prongs.

Know before you go

Antananarivo has a pleasant, temperate climate thanks to its 1300 m altitude. If you are traveling to the Eastern region to Andasibe village, then do not forget your rain gear: heavy rainfall can happen at any time of the year. Make sure you have waterproof walking boots, long sleeves, and long trousers to protect against mosquitoes in the early morning and in the park. A head torch is essential for a nocturnal visit. Remember to bring some spare batteries and a bulb. Sunscreen and insect repellent are also recommended. Make sure you have enough camera film and spare batteries, as both are difficult to obtain locally.
