Day 1: Paro Arrival - Cultural Immersion
- Arrival: Upon landing at Paro International Airport, one of the world’s most scenic airports, you will be greeted by our guide, who will assist you with your transfer to Paro town. The airport is located about 6 km from the town center.
- Lunch: Enjoy a traditional Bhutanese lunch at a local restaurant, offering a first taste of Bhutan’s rich and flavorful cuisine.
- After lunch, begin your exploration with a visit to the Ta Dzong (National Museum), located about 1 km from Rinpung Dzong, a 17th-century fortress built to protect the Paro Valley from invasions. A short walk down leads you to the iconic Rinpung Dzong, a striking example of Bhutanese architecture, perched above the Paro Chu River.
- Drive to Thimpu: After exploring Paro, embark on a 1.5-hour scenic drive to Bhutan’s capital, Thimpu, covering about 55 km through picturesque landscapes and winding mountain roads. Along the way, take in the lush greenery, rivers, and traditional houses that line the route.
Overnight: Check into your hotel in Thimpu for a comfortable night’s rest.

Day 2: Thimpu to Punakha (1,310m) – Scenic and Cultural Journey
Morning Exploration in Thimpu:
- Begin your day by visiting the Memorial Chorten, an iconic stupa dedicated to world peace.
- Visit the Jungshi Paper Factory, where traditional Bhutanese handmade paper is produced using ancient techniques.
- Continue to the National Institute for Zorig Chusum (Arts & Crafts School), where you’ll witness young artists mastering traditional Bhutanese crafts such as painting, sculpting, and weaving.
Time Spent: Approx. 3-4 hours exploring these sites.
- Scenic Drive to Punakha via Dochu La Pass: After lunch, embark on a scenic 3-hour drive (77 km) to Punakha, passing through the Dochu La Pass at 3,050 meters. On clear days, the pass offers panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks, including Gangkar Puensum, the highest unclimbed peak in the world.
- Time to stop: At Dochu La Pass, take time to explore the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens, a beautiful monument built to honor Bhutanese soldiers. As you descend into the subtropical Punakha valley, the climate becomes warmer and lush vegetation abounds.
Exploration in Punakha:
- Visit the Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most magnificent structures situated at the confluence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers.
- Drive a short distance to Wangdi Dzong, a historically significant fortress located on a hilltop overlooking the valley.
Overnight: Settle into your hotel in Punakha for a relaxing night.

Day 3: Punakha to Paro – Historic and Scenic Journey
- Drive Back to Paro: After breakfast, begin the 4.5-hour journey (125 km) back to Paro. En route, make a stop at Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress in Bhutan, dating back to 1629. This site holds historical importance as the first dzong built by the unifier of Bhutan, Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel.
Afternoon in Paro:
- After lunch in Paro, continue your cultural exploration by revisiting the National Museum to dive deeper into Bhutanese history and artifacts.
- Visit the Satsam Chorten Monastery, a peaceful retreat that offers serene views of the valley.
- Explore the majestic Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong) again, but this time, delve into the history and stories surrounding the impressive fortress.
- Leisure: Spend the evening wandering around Paro’s traditional marketplace, where you can shop for local handicrafts, textiles, and souvenirs.

Day 4: Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang Monastery)
- Distance & Time: Early in the morning, embark on a 5 km (one-way) hike to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), one of the most iconic sites in Bhutan. The hike takes about 2-3 hours uphill, depending on your pace.
- What to Expect: The trail winds through pine forests, prayer flags fluttering in the wind, and offers stunning views of the monastery perched on the cliffside 900 meters above the Paro Valley. Along the way, you’ll pass a sacred waterfall and stop for rest at the halfway point, where there’s a café with stunning views of Taktsang.
- Tiger’s Nest: Upon reaching the monastery, immerse yourself in its sacred atmosphere and learn about its significance as the place where Guru Rinpoche meditated.
- Time at the Monastery: Spend about 1-1.5 hours exploring the monastery, soaking in the spirituality and breathtaking views before descending.
- Afternoon: After descending, relax at your hotel or take time to explore more of Paro town and its vibrant cultural life.

- Morning at Leisure: Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, soaking in your last moments in Bhutan.
- Transfer to Paro Airport: Our guide will transfer you to Paro Airport (about a 10-15 minute drive from most hotels in the Paro town area) for your departure. Bid farewell to the peaceful and culturally rich kingdom of Bhutan, leaving with cherished memories of your journey.
