Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha and Exploration
- Upon arrival in Arusha, your guide will meet you and take you to your hotel. Arusha is a bustling hub for travellers heading on safari and is known for its vibrant markets, cafes, and scenic backdrop of Mount Meru. It offers a comfortable starting point before heading into the heart of Tanzania's wildlife regions.
- Depending on your arrival time, you can take a short city tour, visiting the Arusha Clock Tower and the Arusha Cultural Heritage Centre, a popular spot for art and souvenirs.
- Alternatively, you can relax at your lodge and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater Safari – The Eden Garden
- After an early breakfast, you will set off on a scenic drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, one of the world's most iconic wildlife reserves.
- Upon arrival, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a massive volcanic caldera teeming with wildlife.
- Spend the day exploring the crater floor, home to many animals, including lions, elephants, buffalo, and the endangered black rhino. The dense wildlife population and varied terrain make this an unforgettable game-viewing experience.
- You will enjoy a picnic lunch by the hippo pool before continuing your safari in the afternoon.
- As the day ends, ascend the crater and head to Karatu, a nearby town where you will spend the night. Karatu is known for its scenic farms and offers a relaxing atmosphere after a day of adventure.
Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park – The Lover Bird's & Return to Arusha
- After breakfast, depart Karatu and drive to Lake Manyara National Park, which is about an hour away. Lake Manyara is famous for its breathtaking scenery, including the alkaline lake that attracts a variety of birdlife, including pink-hued flamingos. The park is also known for its diverse ecosystems, ranging from dense forests to open grasslands.
- Keep an eye out for elephants, hippos, giraffes, and the park's elusive tree-climbing lions.
- You will spend the morning exploring the park, enjoying a game drive through its varied landscapes.
- After a picnic lunch, you will start your journey back to Arusha in the late afternoon.
- From there, you will be transferred to your hotel or onward to your next destination, concluding your 3-day safari.

Language: Kiswahili is the national language, but English is widely spoken in the tourism sector. Learning a few basic Swahili phrases can be fun and appreciated by locals.

Wildlife Viewing Etiquette: Respect wildlife by maintaining a safe distance during game drives, keeping noise to a minimum, and following your guide’s instructions. Avoid littering and always stay inside the vehicle unless instructed otherwise.

Weather and Climate: The weather in Tanzania varies depending on the season. The best time to visit Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara is during the dry season (June to October), but wildlife viewing is good year-round. Mornings and evenings can be cool, especially in Ngorongoro, so pack layers.

Electricity and Charging: Tanzania uses Type D and G sockets with a standard voltage of 230V. Bring a universal adapter if needed and a power bank to charge devices during the day as power may be limited in some lodges.

Park Fees: Park entrance fees are usually included in your safari package, but confirm with your operator. These fees help conserve the parks and wildlife you’ll be visiting.

Cultural Sensitivity: Tanzania has a rich cultural heritage, and it’s important to be respectful of local customs. Dress modestly in towns and villages, and always ask permission before taking photos of people.

Tipping Guidelines: Tipping is customary in Tanzania for guides, porters, and lodge staff. While it’s not mandatory, it’s appreciated. As a guideline, tip around $10-15 per day for guides and $5-10 per day for lodge staff.

What To Bring

Comfortable Clothing: Pack lightweight, breathable clothing in neutral colours like khaki, beige, or olive for game drives. Long-sleeved shirts and pants are recommended for sun and insect protection

Warm Layers: Ngorongoro Crater can be chilly in the early mornings and evenings, so bring a warm jacket or fleece

Sun Protection: To protect against the strong African sun, remember sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunscreen with a high SPF

Sturdy Shoes: Comfortable, closed-toe shoes or hiking boots are ideal for walking safaris or around camp
