Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach Adventure
- 8:00 AM - Departure from Reykjavík
- Start your day bright and early with pickup from your accommodation in Reykjavík.
- Your private guide will make sure you have everything you need for the day, including any special equipment or clothing.
- 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM - Scenic Drive to Jökulsárlón
- Enjoy breathtaking views along Route 1, the Ring Road. The journey takes you through the picturesque landscapes of the South Coast, including waterfalls, lava fields, and charming Icelandic farms. There will be occasional stops for photo opportunities and rest breaks.
- 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM - Arrival at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
- Upon arrival, take in the stunning sight of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.
- Marvel at the massive icebergs drifting in the serene blue waters after calving from the nearby Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier.
- 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM - Boat Tour on the Glacier Lagoon
- Embark on an exhilarating boat tour, either amphibian or zodiac, depending on your preference.
- Get up close to the icebergs and possibly spot some seals lounging on the ice.
- Your guide will share fascinating insights into the lagoon's geology and the history of the glaciers.
- 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM - Lunch Break
- Enjoy a delicious packed lunch provided by your tour operator, or dine at the nearby café.
- Relish the stunning views as you eat, and take some time to explore the visitor center and gift shop.
- 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM - Visit Diamond Beach
- A short walk from the lagoon brings you to Diamond Beach, where icebergs that have washed ashore glitter like diamonds against the black sand.
- Spend some time walking along the beach, taking photographs, and enjoying the unique beauty of this natural wonder.
- 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM - Explore the Surrounding Area
- Depending on your interests and the time available, your guide may take you to nearby attractions such as Europe's largest glacier, Vatnajökull Glacier, located in southeast Iceland. This voluminous ice cap covers approximately 8,100 square kilometres and spans nearly 8% of Iceland's land area.
- You may also visit Stjórnarfoss, a stunning waterfall in the southern part of Iceland near the town of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Although it is smaller and less famous than some of Iceland's other waterfalls, its unique charm makes it special.
- 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM - Return Journey to Reykjavík
- Begin the return journey to Reykjavík with opportunities to stop at any interesting sites you may have missed on the way in.
- The changing light of the late afternoon and early evening often provides spectacular views and photo opportunities.
- 8:00 PM - Arrival in Reykjavík
- Arrive in Reykjavík, where you will be dropped off at your accommodation.
- Reflect on the day's adventures and enjoy a relaxing evening in the city.
