The itinerary

Day 01

Gabès, Chott El Djérid, and the Mountain Oases of Tozeur

• Depart by ferry to Gabès, with a 30-minute stopover, then continue to Kebili via El Hama. Proceed to Tozeur, crossing the immense Chott El Djérid salt lake, with another 30-minute stopover. Lunch will be served at the 3-star Hotel El Hafsi in Tozeur or a similar establishment.
• Embark on a 3.5-hour excursion to the mountain oases, visiting Chebika, a Berber village perched on the mountain; Tamerza, a village suspended on the side of a canyon; and Midès, where oases and canyons merge to create a refreshing landscape.
• Return to Tozeur, a town that blends Saharan and Andalusian influences. Check in at the 3-star Hotel El Hafsi or a similar establishment. After dinner, enjoy an evening stroll through the old town and a 1-hour visit to the Chakwak Museum. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 02

Douz, Matmata, Toujane, and Return to Djerba

• After breakfast, head to Douz, the méharée capital. There, you may optionally take a camel ride (payable on site: 25 DT per person) to explore the vast sand dunes. Lunch will be served at the Sun Palm Hotel.
• Continue to Matmata to admire the lunar landscape and the Berber village of Tamazret.
• Visit the troglodyte houses for approximately 30 minutes.
• Proceed to Médenine, passing through the picturesque Toujane region, then continue your journey to Djerba along the Roman road.
