Pretoria Heritage Tour of Voortrekker and Anglo-Boer War Landmarks
- 9:00 AM - Meet your tour representative at the Voortrekker Monument for a 3-hour visit.
- 12:00 PM - Depart from the Voortrekker Monument for a light brunch or lunch at a restaurant.
- Visit the Heritage Centre for an in-depth look at South African history, including cultural, educational, and military history covering the Boer War, World War 1, World War 2, and the Border War, as well as notable South African personalities.
- From the monument, drive up to Fort Schanskop, the first of the four forts surrounding Pretoria to be completed in 1897. The magnificent panoramic view overlooking Fountains Valley and the city of Pretoria provides a virtual explanation of the fort's history and Pretoria's history before and after the Boer War.
- 12:45 PM - Explore Melrose House for an hour.
- Visit Kruger House for an hour (optional).
- 2:00 PM - Drive to Church Square for exploration until 2:30 PM.
- Drive past the State Model School, where the 25-year-old Winston Churchill, then a British war correspondent, was held captive and later escaped during the Anglo-Boer War.
- 3:00 PM - Drive up to the majestic Union Buildings, the headquarters of the national government.
