Description

Join our program for hands-on conservation work, choosing from pre-arranged activities like eco-community building, feral cat monitoring, marine ecosystem assessments, or bird habitat surveys. Alternatively, customize your experience with activities tailored to your interests. A minimum 15-day commitment is required. Make a difference and gain field experience in critical conservation efforts.

- How it works:
  - There are two ways you can participate in our work. The first is participating in one of our pre-arranged activities for the field season. The second is to individually organize an activity for each volunteer in one of our thematic work areas. We work out a pre-agreed plan on an individual volunteer basis, which can include a mixture of activities both pre-arranged and on an individual basis, one in one of our thematic areas.
- We currently have four pre-arranged activities. These are:
  - Building the Kalamos Island Eco-community and experimental organic fruit and vegetable farm.
  - Feral cat monitoring program for Kalamos, Kastos and their satellite islands.
  - Marine Ecosystems monitoring program.
  - Ornithological habitat Surveys.
- The minimum time a volunteer can stay with us is 15 calendar days.

What's Included

All necessary training and orientation, including assistance where needed, is included for our pre-arranged activities and up to a point pre-agreed for stand-alone projects in one of our thematic areas

Related transport in the general area of the project (Kalamos, Kastos and the satellite islands) for persons involved in our pre-arranged activities

Equipment for our pre-arranged activities and up to a pre-agreed point for stand-alone projects in one of our thematic areas

Accommodation and other related facilities such as shared kitchen facilities, laundry and drying facilities, shared toilet and shower facilities access, and station areas for work are included and covered by the fee.

A primary housekeeping facility is also included once a week, which includes linen and bedsheet changes.

Full access to Wi-Fi, internet, and computers is also included

Here is no meal plan. Kalamos is where food can be easily purchased from local shops, supermarkets, etc. If you plan to come as a group (Five people or more), arrangements can be made for a meal plan at an additional cost. Contact us to discuss this option further if you are interested

Know Before You Go

This is an isolated rural area. We are in a village of 250 people, but often we are more remote when we work. There is no ATM on the islands, but there are grocery stores, restaurants and cafes.
