Day 01
Bucha, Irpin, Hostomel and Kyiv War History Tour
- Travel to Bucha, starting with a drive down Yablunskaya Street - the location where shocking footage of civilians being shot was recorded. As we continue along this street, we arrive at the station where around 30 Russian vehicles were destroyed. Our journey then takes us through the city center, where we delve into the grim events of the Bucha massacre.
- In Irpin, often called a Hero City, we cross the Romanivsky Bridge, which was heavily damaged during the evacuation. Along our route, we stop at a memorial site that serves as a cemetery for the destroyed equipment from the battles for Irpin. As we continue through Irpin, close to the Bucha border, we will explore an area that witnessed fierce military engagements during the conflict.
- Visit Hostomel, which is known for hosting the Antonov airport. Antonov ANTK operates it and serves as an international cargo hub. The airport was home to the world's largest aircraft, the An-225 Mriya. On February 24, 2022, Hostomel Airport was one of the initial targets of the Russian invasion. Despite the Armed Forces of Ukraine securing victory in the battle for the airport, the village remained under Russian occupation, and the Mriya aircraft was destroyed. After the Russian forces were defeated and Hostomel was liberated, numerous reports emerged of war crimes committed by the Russian military against civilians. Hostomel has since been honoured with the title "Hero City of Ukraine."
