The itinerary

1
Day 01

Drive to Andasibe and Nocturnal Wildlife Walk

Day 1: Antananarivo → Peyrieras → Moramanga lunch → Andasibe → Night walk

07:00am – Departure from Antananarivo
Pick up from your hotel in Antananarivo and drive east on RN2 toward Andasibe. The drive usually takes about 3.5 to 4.5 hours total depending on traffic and stops. Along the way, you’ll pass rural villages, rice fields, forested hills, and roadside markets.

09:30–10:30am – Peyrieras Reptile Reserve (Madagascar Exotic)
Stop for about 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes at Peyrieras near Marozevo. This is a good first wildlife stop to see chameleons, geckos, frogs, snakes, butterflies, and sometimes lemurs in a small, easy-to-visit reserve. It’s a short but very rich visit, especially if you want close-up photos of Madagascar’s reptiles and amphibians.

12:00–13:00pm – Lunch at Lucas restaurant in Moramanga
Continue to Moramanga for lunch, usually around 1 hour. This is a convenient stop before reaching Andasibe. You can relax, have Malagasy or simple international food, and prepare for the afternoon visit.

13:30–15:30pm – Transfer to Andasibe and hotel check-in
Drive onward to Andasibe and settle into your hotel. Depending on your accommodation, this can take 30–60 minutes after lunch. You’ll have a short rest before the afternoon activity.

16:00–17:30 – Optional nature walk or hotel surroundings
If time and energy allow, you can do a light walk near the lodge or in the forest edge area. This is a calm time to enjoy the rainforest atmosphere, birds, and vegetation before night activities.

18:30–19:30 – Night walk
Join a guided night walk for about 1 hour. This is one of the best ways to see Madagascar’s nocturnal wildlife. You may spot mouse lemurs, chameleons, frogs, geckos, and other night-active animals. Bring a flashlight and comfortable walking shoes; the experience is different from a daytime park visit because the forest becomes much more active at night.

Day 02

Mantadia National Park Day Walk and Return to Antananarivo

Day 2: Andasibe Reserve → Vakona Reserve → Lunch → Return to Antananarivo

06:30–07:30 am – Breakfast and departure
Have an early breakfast and get ready for the main park visit. Early morning is the best time for wildlife activity and cooler walking conditions.

07:30–10:30 am – Andasibe Reserve / Analamazaotra Special Reserve
Spend about 3 hours exploring Andasibe Reserve, also known as Analamazaotra. This is the highlight of the area and one of Madagascar’s most famous rainforest parks. The main sighting is the Indri indri, the largest living lemur, known for its powerful calls that can echo through the forest. You may also see other lemurs, birds, orchids, ferns, and dense tropical rainforest scenery.

10:45–12:00 pm – Vakona Reserve
Continue to Vakona for about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes. Vakona is popular for its “lemur island”, where lemurs are often seen up close. Depending on the exact program, you may also see crocodiles, reptiles, and forest plants. This visit is usually lighter and more relaxed than the Andasibe forest hike, with easier access for photos and close wildlife viewing.

12:15–13:15 – Lunch in Andasibe
Enjoy lunch at a hotel or local restaurant in Andasibe for about 1 hour. This is a good time to rest before the drive back.

13:30–17:30 – Return to Antananarivo
Drive back to Antananarivo, which usually takes around 3.5 to 4.5 hours depending on road conditions and traffic. You should arrive in the late afternoon or early evening.

End of services.
