Discover Burundi and Tanzania on a 6-day journey through city landmarks, cultural heritage, waterfalls, nature reserves, and primate habitats. Explore Bujumbura's main attractions, experience Burundian culture at the Gishora Drummer Sanctuary, and visit the Nyakazu faults and Mwishanga waterfalls in Rutana province. Cross into Tanzania to hike in Ngombe National Park and observe chimpanzees, monkeys, and diverse plant life, then return to Burundi for Kigwena Natural Reserve and time at Lake Tanganyika public beach.

The itinerary

Day 01

Arrival at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport

On the first day, you will meet our professional guide at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport. You will be picked up and transferred to the hotel, where you will receive a pre-briefing about the tour.

Day 02

Bujumbura City Tour and Gishora Drummer Sanctuary

On the second day at 7:00 a.m., we will leave the hotel to visit the main attractions in Bujumbura city, including Independence Place, the former central market, Musée Vivant, and Pierre de David Livingstone et Henry Morton Stanley, linked to the famous explorers before colonisation in Africa.
Then, we will return to the hotel at 5:30 to have lunch. After that, we will drive to Gitega, the political capital, to experience Burundian culture and spend one night there.

Day 03

Karera Faults, Mwishanga Falls, and Transfer to Kigoma

On the third day, at 6:00 a.m., we will wake up early to visit two attractions in Rutana province: Karera Faults and Mwishanga Falls.
After that, we will continue our journey to Makamba for lunch before crossing the border to Tanzania.
We will cross the border in the afternoon to get to Kigoma, where we will spend the night.

Day 04

Hike in Ngombe National Park

On the fourth day, we will wake up at 5:30 to visit Ngombe National Park in Tanzania and explore the biodiversity hosted by the park, including primates such as monkeys, chimpanzees, and different species of plants.

Day 05

Kigwena Natural Reserve and Return to Bujumbura

On the fifth day, we will wake up early in the morning and leave the hotel at 6:00 a.m. to return to Burundi and visit Kigwena Natural Reserve, mainly to enjoy nature's beauty and interact with Burundi's local people.
In the afternoon, we will take Road No. 3, which will bring us to Bujumbura for the night.

Day 06

Leisure Day and Lake Tanganyika Beach

On the sixth day, after the previous five days of touring, we will take some time to rest. In the afternoon, we will go to Lake Tanganyika public beach to enjoy ourselves and say goodbye to Burundi before taking the flight home.
