The itinerary

1
Day 01

Iquitos to Nauta and Amazon Lodge Arrival

  • At 8:00 a.m., pick up from the hotel or airport and transfer to Nauta city by private car. On the way, observe the small villages of farmers settled along the sides of the road. The trip lasts approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes.

  • Upon arrival in Nauta city, take a private typical boat to your Amazon lodge. Spend 2 hours and 30 minutes on the boat, first along the Marañon River, then the main Amazon River, and finally on the Yarapa River, an affluent of the Ucayali River.

  • Arrive at the Amazon Lodge, check in to your private room, and coordinate the jungle tour excursions.

  • Walk deep into the primary forest for approximately two hours, getting to know part of the flora and fauna of the area.

  • Return to the lodge for lunch.

  • Optional visit to a small Amazon village to see the daily activities of the local people.

  • Continue to enjoy the Amazon pink and grey dolphins, take many pictures, and go swimming with them too.

  • Eat dinner.

  • During the night, the jungle guide will coordinate a canoe trip to see different nocturnal species of monkeys, frogs, and other animals.

Day 02

Yarapa River Fishing and Jungle Survival Walks

  • Early in the morning, walk in the jungle to see varieties of monkey families, insects, and spiders in their natural habitat.

  • Have breakfast.

  • Tour the Yarapa River by boat to fish for piranhas, catfish, and other species.

  • Eat lunch.

  • Continue the jungle walking activities, learning about medicinal plants and the techniques of survival using the elements of the Amazon jungle.

  • Enjoy dinner.

  • After dinner, continue exploring the jungle and observe insects, frogs, and other species.

Day 03

Sunrise Hike and Jungle Camping Adventure

  • Early in the morning, enjoy the sunrise in the heart of the jungle. Take a morning hike in the primary rainforest and talk about the different animals found in the area.

  • Have lunch at the lodge.

  • After lunch, ride a canoe or motorboat deeper into the primary rainforest for camping, where you will spend the night. Explore during the day and night to find different species of nocturnal animals, such as black and white caimans, frogs, owl monkeys, nocturnal birds, insects, and more. Early the next morning, you will head back to the lodge.

Day 04

Camp to Lodge Return via Nauta to Iquitos

  • Eat breakfast at the camp.

  • Return to the lodge. On the way, see small lakes and big rivers, and enjoy pink and grey dolphins too.

  • At the indicated time, return to Nauta city and then continue to Iquitos.

  • Head to the office in Iquitos or the airport.

Know before you go

  • Wear light clothing, long sleeves, campaign pants, a windbreaker jacket, hat, sunglasses, water bottle, hiking shoes, flashlight, insect repellent, sunscreen, polo shirts, shorts, bath linen, and sandals. For your stay in the city, wear clothes according to your personal preferences. In case of rain, the operator will provide rubber boots.

  • For luggage custody, you may leave your belongings in the office for the days you will be in the jungle. It is recommended not to take more than 150.00 soles for spending at the bar and buying handicrafts. Your personal valuables should be declared. There is no cost for this service.

  • We are not responsible for lost items and accessories under our responsibility. It is recommended to take a personal bag (kangaroo bag or backpack) for all personal belongings, as well as documents and money.

  • The lodge provides generator charging time for batteries and electronic equipment such as cameras, cell phones, camcorders, and similar devices.

  • Rainy season: November to July. Each passenger must bring rain protection such as ponchos, jackets for showers, and similar items.

  • Summer season (no showers): July to November. This is the season for Amazon beaches, so bring your swimsuit. It is also fishing season.

  • Passengers are required to arrive on the first flight of the day; otherwise, they should spend a night in Iquitos for the very early start of the tour.

  • Camera battery charging is available through the lodge generator - please ask the administrator.
