Itinerary

1. Day 01: Arrival in Paro then transfer to Thimphu City - 1:30 hours (55km) drive

   • Your journey begins with an exhilarating arrival in Paro, where you'll be greeted by the stunning landscapes of Bhutan. After clearing customs, you'll embark on a picturesque 1.5-hour drive to Thimphu, the vibrant capital city of Bhutan, covering approximately 55 kilometers. As you travel, the scenic beauty of Bhutan unfolds before you, with lush green valleys and distant Himalayan peaks.

2. Day 02: Sightseeing tour in Thimphu

   • Today is dedicated to exploring the cultural and historical treasures of Thimphu. You'll visit iconic landmarks such as the Tashichho Dzong, a striking fortress-monastery that serves as the seat of Bhutan's government and religious affairs. The day continues with visits to the National Memorial Chorten, Buddha Dordenma (the giant Buddha statue), and the vibrant local markets where traditional crafts and Bhutanese artifacts are on display.

3. Day 03: Drive from Thimphu to Punakha and sightseeing - 2 to 3 hours (74km) drive.

   • Departing from Thimphu, you'll embark on a scenic drive to Punakha, a journey that takes approximately 2 to 3 hours covering 74 kilometers. En route, you'll traverse through the verdant Dochula Pass (3,100 meters), adorned with 108 stupas and offering breathtaking views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. In Punakha, you will explore the historic Punakha Dzong, an architectural masterpiece located at the confluence of two rivers, Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu.

4. Day 04: Drive from Punakha to Bumthang - 6 to 7 hours (216km) drive

   • Today, your journey takes you deeper into the Bhutanese heartland as you drive from Punakha to Bumthang, a scenic journey of 6 to 7 hours spanning 216 kilometres. The road winds through picturesque valleys and traditional Bhutanese villages, offering glimpses of rural life and stunning natural landscapes. Upon arrival in Bumthang, you'll settle in and prepare for the upcoming cultural extravaganza.

5. Day 05: Enjoy Ura Yakchoe Festival in Bumthang

   • Immerse yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of Bhutan at the Ura Yakchoe Festival in Bumthang. This vibrant festival showcases traditional mask dances, religious rituals, and colourful celebrations, providing a profound insight into Bhutanese spirituality and cultural heritage. You will have the opportunity to interact with locals dressed in their finest traditional attire and witness age-old traditions come to life.

6. Day 06: Flight from Bumthang to Paro and sightseeing - 35 minute flight

   • Bid farewell to Bumthang as you take a short but scenic flight back to Paro, offering panoramic views of the Bhutanese landscape below. 
   • Upon arrival in Paro, you will embark on a sightseeing tour that includes visits to the National Museum (Ta Dzong) and Paro Rinpung Dzong, two iconic landmarks steeped in history and architectural splendor.

7. Day 07: Sightseeing Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (3,120m/10,236ft) - 3 to 4 hours (6.4km) hike

   • Today's adventure takes you on a memorable hike to the Tiger's Nest Monastery (Taktsang Palphug), a revered Himalayan Buddhist site perched precariously on a cliff at an altitude of 3,120 meters. The hike, which takes approximately 3 to 4 hours round-trip, covering 6.4 kilometres, offers breathtaking views of the monastery and the surrounding valley. This spiritual journey culminates with a visit to the sacred interiors of the monastery, where you can witness monks engaged in prayer and meditation.

8. Day 08: Transfer to the Paro International airport – Departure

   • Concluding your unforgettable journey through the Kingdom of Bhutan, you'll be transferred to Paro International Airport for your departure flight.
