The itinerary

Day 01

Pick-up in Lisbon and Drive to the Setúbal Wine Region

  • On your way out of Lisbon, you will pass by the Marquês de Pombal Statue square.
  • From here, you will enjoy a 35-minute drive to the Setúbal Wine Region.

Day 02

Azeitão Wine and Food Experience

  • On this full-day tour, you will travel first to Azeitão, an area known for its wines and cheese.
  • After reaching the Setúbal Wine Region, you will visit some of the region's top wine cellars and taste fine wines and other produce.
  • You can choose one of two options for your tour:
    1. Visit 3 wineries* with 10 wine tastings and enjoy a selection of traditional local cheese, chorizo, and bread.
    2. Visit 2 wineries* with 7 wine tastings, followed by a full lunch - entrees, a main dish (fish or meat), dessert, and a beverage (wine or other) - in a small traditional family-owned restaurant in Palmela village.

Day 03

Quinta de Alcube Winery Visit

  • One of the wineries you will visit is Quinta de Alcube. Family-owned for over a century, since 1913, it is a traditional cellar that produces up to 350,000 litres of wine per year.
  • Here, you can taste 5 of their wines and learn how the wine is made, as well as about the winery's philosophy. Their wines are sold only directly to customers, making them difficult to find in shops.

Day 04

José Maria da Fonseca Historic Cellars

  • Another stop will be at José Maria da Fonseca's renowned wine cellars, where you will learn about the winery's history since 1834 and sample 2 of its wines. This is one of the oldest wineries in Portugal and the oldest in the region.
  • Inside, you will see Portugal's oldest fortified wine collection, and one of the oldest in Europe.
  • Discover the winery's oldest brand, now over 160 years old, and see the unique handmade mahogany barrels with a capacity of up to 20,000 litres.

Day 05

Wine Tasting in Palmela Village

  • Your third and final experience will be in the old village of Palmela.
  • Here, you will taste up to 5 more wines in the "Mother House" of this wine region, where you can see and taste what most of the 21 different wineries in this region produce.

Views over Arrábida Natural Park

  • In addition to all the tastings, you will marvel at the views of the Arrábida Natural Park, the mountain range, and its history.
