Day 01
Butrint, Wine Tasting, and Lëkurësi Castle
- From Sarandë (your hotel, the town centre, or the port), we will drive to Butrint National Park, about 25-30 minutes by car. It is a real hidden gem surrounded by nature, always green, with vegetation that feels beautiful in every season. It is a place where you can easily imagine and understand how construction and life evolved from the 4th century BC to the present.
- We will take a 1.5- to 2-hour tour inside the ancient city, where we will visit the Theatre, the Forum, the Grand Basilica, the Baptistery, and the Venetian Castle at the top of the hill.
- With every step you take inside Butrint, you will hear the birds singing and notice the pleasant smell of the laurel trees, which have been there since Cesar. The beauty of Butrinti Lake, which surrounds the ancient city, makes it even more mysterious and wonderful. A nice breeze will follow you throughout the tour, even during the high temperatures of July and August.
- To continue the day, it is a must to taste local products: cheese, jams, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickles, wine (red, white, and rosé), and raki, the traditional Albanian alcoholic drink.
- After the wine and snacks, you can enjoy a 360-degree view of the region from Lëkurësi Castle, situated at the top of one of the hills overlooking the city of Sarandë.
- As the final part of the tour, we will take a short walk through the city to explore and enjoy local sweets before departure.
- Drive back to town and the pick-up place.
