The itinerary

1
Day 01

Arrival and Sightseeing in Tashkent

  • Arrival in Tashkent and meeting with the driver. Start sightseeing at the Khast Imom Complex, including Barak Khan Madrassah, Kaffal Shashi Mausoleum, Quran Library, and Mosque.
  • Visit Chorsu Bazaar, the primary oriental market in Tashkent.
  • See Kukeldash Madrassah (16th century), a grand madrassah with a domed courtyard. Today, the building has returned to service as an Islamic school.
  • Lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Continue sightseeing at Amir Temur Square, a central park with a statue of Amir Temur on horseback and the so-called "Broadway."
  • Visit Independence (Mustakillik) Square, the former "Red Square," the main square of Tashkent, with a monument to World War II victims.
  • Explore Tashkent Metro stations.

Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 02

Train to Bukhara and City Sightseeing

AM:

  • Breakfast.
  • Transfer to the railway station and departure to Bukhara by Sharq or Afrosiab train at 08:23-12:29.
  • Check in at the hotel upon arrival and begin sightseeing.
  • Visit the Ark Fortress (6th-19th century). In the Middle Ages, it was a whole town with the emir's house, wives, mosques, a mint, government institutes, storerooms, a prison, and a square for public executions.
  • See Poikalon (12th-16th century), an architectural ensemble consisting of the Masjidi Kalon Mosque, Miri Arab Madrasah, and a 46 m minaret.

PM:

  • Lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Continue sightseeing.
  • Explore the Trading Domes, which consist of three trading centres: Tok-i-Zargaron (1570) - Jeweler's Bazaar, Tok-i-Tilpak Furushon - Cap Maker's Bazaar, and Tok-i-Sarrafon - Moneychanger's Bazaar.
  • Visit the Medresse of Ulugbek and Abdulzizkhan.
  • See Labi-Hauz (16th-17th century), a complex with Nodir-Devon Begi Madrassah and Khanaka.

Day 03

Train to Samarkand and Timurid Heritage

AM:

  • Transfer to the railway station and departure to Samarkand by Sharq or Afrosiab train at 04:20-06:03.
  • Breakfast.
  • Arrival and sightseeing in Samarkand.
  • Visit Gur Amir Mausoleum (15th century), a Timurid dynastic burial vault and a unique architectural monument with a blue-ribbed tessellated dome.
  • See Registan Square (15th-17th century), the official centre of Timur's Empire, consisting of the grand madrassahs of Ulugbek, Sher Dor, and Tillya Kari.

PM:

  • Lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Start sightseeing in Samarkand.
  • Visit Bibi Khanum Mosque (14th century), built by Timur to be the biggest mosque of its time. Architects, craftsmen, and painters completed it in five years.
  • Explore Siab Bazaar (closed on Monday).
  • See Shahi Zinda Mausoleum (14th-15th century), a "Town of the Dead" complex of more than 20 unique buildings from different ages.
  • Dinner at a local restaurant.
  • Overnight at the hotel.

Day 04

Return to Tashkent and Departure

AM:

  • Breakfast.
  • Transfer to the railway station and departure to Tashkent by Sharq or Afrosiab train at 06:13-08:43.

Arrival.

  • Free time for self-exploration.
  • Transfer to the airport for the departure flight.
