The itinerary

Day 01

Durban's Warwick Triangle and the Valley of a Thousand Hills

  • Guests are collected in Durban before taking a 1.5-hour walking tour of Durban's Warwick Triangle. The traditional medicine and herb market is the largest in Southern Africa. A light lunch follows, featuring the delights of Durban's Indian population, the largest Indian settlement of any city outside India.
  • In the afternoon, enjoy a tour of the Valley of a Thousand Hills, including a visit to a Zulu beaded art project, before settling into Cybele Lodge for the evening.

Day 02

Mandela Capture Site and Sani Pass to the Southern Berg

  • Depart early after breakfast for the Lions River region to visit the world-famous Mandela Capture Site.
  • Enjoy a light lunch en route before traversing Africa's highest unpaved pass, the Sani Pass. Guests will enjoy an afternoon drink in Lesotho before ascending into the valley for accommodation in the Southern Berg region.

Day 03

Specialist Bushman Rock Art Tour and Zululand Drive

  • Depart early in the morning to see the Bushman Rock Art paintings. This specialist guided tour lasts 3 hours and is not accessible to the public.
  • A late breakfast will be enjoyed in Underberg before guests continue on a guided drive through Zululand, stopping at several points of interest. Accommodation will be in the Zulu Battlefields.

Day 04

Battlefield Storytelling at Rorke's Drift and Isandlwana to Eswatini

  • Start early for a spine-chilling morning as your specialist battlefield guide enthrals guests with a narration of the Battle of Rorke's Drift before transferring to the daunting site of one of the most famous battles, Isandlwana. The guide will leave guests in absolute awe, as the rendition of these historical battles is mesmerising.

The destination is Eswatini (Swaziland).

Day 05

Eswati Crafts and Transfer to Greater Kruger

  • Visit the famed Swazi Candles or Ngwenya Glass factories to enjoy true Eswati crafts. Have lunch in Eswatini before arriving in the greater Kruger National Park for the next two nights.

Day 06

Kruger Game Drives and a Funky Cafe Stop

  • Enjoy two safaris/game drives, one in the early morning and one in the late afternoon, with lunch in a funky cafe. Guests will be encouraged to rest and relax between safaris.

Overnight in the same property as Day 5.

Day 07

Maputo Walking Tour and Mozambican Dinner

  • After breakfast, guests will depart for Mozambique. The trip will take 3 hours and includes a border crossing. A specialist Maputo walking guide will then meet the group. Eiffel-designed buildings, the magnificent Maputo Railway Station, and the bustling Central Market are a few of the highlights of this fantastic tour.
  • In the late afternoon, check into a trendy Maputo guesthouse before dinner in a typical Mozambican restaurant.

Day 08

Transfer to Maputo Airport

  • After a sumptuous breakfast, guests will be transferred to Maputo Airport for their onward connection. The tour now sadly terminates, and we wish guests a safe onward journey.
